  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I just recieved my tentative date for July 13, still waiting for insurance approval so I'm on an emotional roller coaster excited and nervous
  2. Well, I finally finished jumping through all my hoops for the insurance co. and Dr. and my paperwork was submitted on Friday... After a little glitch that got worked out my dr's office sent everything in for approval... I am suppose to get a call on Monday from the surgeons office with a tentative surgery date. Anxiety and fear is kicking in now waiting to hear if I have been approved.. I just wanted to come on today and thank everyone even tho I don't post much at all, I am always reading and have learned so much from you all...
  3. My Dr. does single incision thru the belly button
  4. My pcp was the same way, In her opinion it was all in my head and if I wanted to I could lose the weight... She was acting as if I never dieted... She didn't want to write my letter of medical necessity after several conversations with her she finally wrote it.. I explained she didn't have to say that she recommend it just that she felt due to my illness and BMI that I would be a candidate for it and should be allowed to have the surgery I choose...
  5. Hi Jane, my surgeon is Dr. Dakin also, I just finished jumping thru my hoops on June 7, and they are suppose to call me on Monday with a tentative surgery date until insurance approves... any thing you could tell about the process at the point i'm at now? do you go to their support groups? how was it to go on mushies right away, did it hurt?
  6. I have got to say these are the worst tasting things in the world, either that I am drinking the wrong ones... I started out listening to my husband who has some for when he goes to the gym called muscle milk was the name of it. ( probably my first mistake was listening to him JK he did try to help ) I ordered a bunch from vita something or another I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think maybe I was getting a little to fancy and thought all those wild tropical favors were actually going to taste like the drinks from a tropical island.... Anyway I don't know how you guys all do it I can't stop gagging, well any suggest as to where I can get some more samples? I found a post on here but it takes you to a page where you can sign up for free samples but there was only like two Protein shakes on there.. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance everybody.
  7. call just them because my insurance co. website said they didn't cover it, but I called twice myself and had to different surgeons office's call and they do cover it... I think when they make some of these handbooks and websites it more of a general type thing instead of an indiviual depending on your company's policy...
  8. I know this post was started a long time ago, but if anybody still has a copy I would really appreciate it.. mns2lv4ever@optonline.net Thanks Denise
  9. I don't see why this has to become a political discussion, sounds to me like human error can we keep politics out of this... It just doesn't seem like the place to discuss this... To original poster I hope every thing works out for you Good Luck
  10. Good Luck have you heard anything yet?
  11. I have the same insurance only thing is it is probably a different employer which means our requirements are probably different... I can tell you that with mine if your BMI is over 40 you get approved without jumping thru all the hoops.. if you are under you will need a letter of pre determination from your dr, 5 years of weights and one co morbidity...
  12. Is a nutrionist considered medically supervised my endocrinologist sends me to one monthly.. as a matter a fact I go to see her today.
  13. I have been considering this for years, but I would always say let me try one more time with a new diet... So this morning I said the heck with this I need to call the insurance co. and find out what I need to do... I picked Dr. Pomp @ cornell I have met him before ( my husband works with him ) I want to make sure I have everything with me before I have my consult with him in January 1) UHC said I need a Pre Determination Letter who does that come from the surgeon or my PCP because my PCP is against elective surgery when I saw her 2 mos ago and told her I was considering it she wasn't happy and gave me a lecture, so I don't know how she is going to feel about writing that up.. What do I do if she wont right one 2. weight history I definately have 5 yrs it is just a matter of getting it from different drs... One being my OB/GYN who when I called told me that I needed to come in for a pap for them to give me that information which I felt was illegal I shouldn't have to come in for a precedure just to get my weight history... 3. weight history is there a special form the dr. has to give me? does it need a signature? or is this just a copy of their record or is it something I just right down on a piece of paper. 4. I have reciepts from Weight Watchers and South Beach Diet and reciepts from the gyms I joined but not a 6 mo medically supervised program. 5. I see a endocrinologist for my Thyroid she keeps telling me everytime I see her that I need to watch my diet because I am pre diabetic I do watch it but I still get the same test results is Pre diabetic or Hypothyroidism considered an obesity-related health problem Thanks in advance for any responses
