AtlantaRed got a reaction from Frustr8 in Need advice for my unique situation (specifically two months post-op)
I like Premier Protein Clear from Sam's. It tastes like G2 Gatorade to me. It's got 20g of Protein. It's even good cut with Water. You might try that in your camelbak. Pickle Juice is also a great electrolyte replacement!

AtlantaRed got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in Anyone go to the hospital alone?
I work at a hospital and some insurance companies will not cover your stay if you sign out against medical advice.

My doctor agreed to 3 anti nausea meds because I always wake up very sick. He gives a script for Emend, an anti nausea give to cancer patients. It is 1 pill for $100 not covered by insurance. I happened to find a coupon online for $25 off. I also had the scopalomine patch, and IV zofran. It was the first time I woke up with no nausea at all.

AtlantaRed got a reaction from Yo-yo girl in How do you, personally, define a carb?
If you're counting carbs, a carb is a carb. I wouldn't eat anything on your list. If you just had to have something, look on Pinterest for Keto bread, keto pizza, meatza. Find low carb marinara on Amazon as well as almond flour and xantham or guar gum for thickening, etc.

To maintain, I would start increasing healthy carbs by 10 g every week to find out where your limit is between maintaining and gaining.

I think you would regret that. Your stomach will relax after a while and will be able to hold more. My doctor said it would never get as big as before surgery, though. I'm 4.5 years out and can eat half a sub with no room for anything else know eating and drinking). My nut said she would expect me to be able to eat that much (I thought it was a lot). I'm almost through with my preop for revision to bypass.

AtlantaRed got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in Soda!
I'm 4.5 years out and still haven't had soda and I loved coke. After being off of it for any amount of time, why even try it? It's not about tolerating it, it's the expansion and possibly the calories. I still crave an ice cold coke, but I had them for 30 years, I know what it tastes like.

AtlantaRed got a reaction from Yo-yo girl in 6 weeks out and I vomit everything I eat
Not at 6 weeks out from weight loss surgery . Portion Control is for non-surgical people who are trying to lose weight or maintain their weight. Weight loss surgery patients are supposed to be Protein, veg, then carb lifelong. I've yet to see anyone post a diet plan that included either item at 6 weeks, 3 months, 1 year out. You shouldn't even know if you can tolerate those foods yet.

You're six weeks out. How do you know you can handle potato chips and pizza? Because you've already eaten them. Why have the surgery?

AtlantaRed got a reaction from healthyme2018 in When is it appropriate to consider revision?
Not that a revision is a bad thing, I'm getting one, but 1900 is a lot of calories. When I was sleeved, I was told 800-1000 calories lifelong.
