  1. Happy 35th Birthday tchrshelli!

  2. 5 years has passed since you registered at SleevePlicationTalk! Happy 5th Anniversary tchrshelli!

  3. I had a period for more than a week after taking the mirena out. I read online that this is normal, because your uterus is shedding a lining built up by the mirena. My period came the next month right on time. I have always had regular periods except while on mirena. They completely disapeared. I did however have a horrible experience with mirena. I gained 30 pounds and was exercising with a trainer and eating right with my band. I couldn't figure out what was happening. I got depressed, and considered medication. I had headaches all of the time and a strange vaginal odor. When I finally came to the realization that the mirena was causing all of my symptoms I had it removed. Besides the week or so long period from removing it, I completely went back to normal. I even started losing weight right away. But! I quickly began another change when I got pregnant the very next month with identical twin girls! I am 7 months now and have only gained 8 pounds (I am still overweight and haven't had an unfill, my Doc is okay with this). My girls are healthy and so far I'm having a great pregnancy. If you read online about mirena you will find that people are all over the place with this birth control. Good, bad, periods, no periods, etc., you will find that almost no two experiences are alike. Some women haven even stated that it took a couple of months to get back to normal cycles- this may be your case. Don't give up and best of luck!
  4. It took less than a month for me, so be careful!!! Had it removed in December and preggo with identical twin girls in January!!!
  5. Are you continuing to lose weight or did you lose it in the first trimester? Are you at your goal weight or still need to lose? Are you able to eat enough food? Are you vomiting after you eat? I wouldn't worry if you lost the weight in the first trimester, this is very normal for a lot of women. If you still have weight to lose, then it is even more normal. I still need to lose about 50 pounds. My doctor said I don't need to gain any weight and could possibly lose since I am still overweight. If you are able to eat, I would add a Protein shake everyday and make sure you are eating enough protein and dairy products. If you are vomiting after meals, go get an unfill!!! This is not good for you or the baby!! I am 18 weeks pregnant with twins! I haven't gained any weight and haven't had an unfill either. My doctor is okay with this, as long as I am getting enough protein. I snack on almonds alot, you only need a few to get a good boost of protein! Best of Luck to both of us having healthy babies!!

    Glucose Tolerance Test

I drank mine at room temperature and that helped. I drank the orange one. The nurse kept an eye on the clock so I didn't over due it and it was manageable. I am 15 weeks. I also had GD with my first daughter 4 years ago and now I am expecting twins!! I will do this test again at wek 20. No unfills yet and hoping to make it all the way! Good Luck! Hey! You are from San Bernardino! I live in Moreno Valley! Who is your Dr.? Mine is Dr. LePort in O.C.
  7. I had my lap band surgery when my daughter was 9 months old and I nursed her until 14 months. Our bodies are amazing, and it is not how much you are eating, it is what you are eating. My band allows me to eat like a normal preson. I am 6 weeks pregnant now with my second, praying that I won't need an unfill becasue of the expense and plan to nurse this baby too. If I can have surgery and still nurse, you can certainly get a fill and still nurse. Eat well!

    Do have Mirena?

I got mirena in March of 09. I have had a slow steady weight gain since then. Almost 30 pounds!!! I had it removed on Monday and have already lsot 5 pounds. My Doc doesn't believe the mirena had anything to do with my weight gain, but I have found plenty of women with the same problem. I am just praying my weight loss will continue!

    Is this working for me??

Hi, I just want to share that my 2 year anniversary is coming up in November. I have lost 50 pounds, but I think I may have finally gotten to my sweet spot last week!! It took forever to get there, so be patient!!! I have a 10cc band now filled with 8.1cc.

    November 2006 Bandsters

Hi, I was banded Nov.29, 06 and I have lost 45 pounds. I am very frustrated, I have 6.5cc in a 10cc band and still don't have restriction. I haven't had a fill since October because I moved from CA to TX and I am having a hard time finding a Dr. I found one, but waiting because he left his practice to start his own private practice. I am trying to be patient, but find myself eating everything in sight. I have to stop this!! I am not motivated and feel depressed. I am praying that my next fill will give me restriction and set me on the right track again.

    Why are YOU Fat?

Thank you for your words of encouragement...

    Why are YOU Fat?

I am fat for many reasons. Now, as an adult I accept responsibility for my weight problem and realize it is about control, which I have little of. This problem started in early elementary years for me. My mother was obsessed about my weight and the way I looked. She emotionally and at times phisically abused me with food. It was a reward and a punishment. She controlled the amount of food that I ate. I became obsessed with food, how I was going to eat it, how I was going to get it, how much I was going to eat, and in secret from my mom ( I didn't and don't have a problem eating in front of others). If she didn't know I was eating it, then I wasn't really eating it (severe denial that I still deal with today). I couldn't enjoy going to a friends house, I could only concern myself with what I was going to eat and how much I could get of it because my mom wasn't there to notice. Getting a car in highschool became a huge problem for me. I could eat it in my car and get rid of the evidence and then go home and eat again so my mom wouldn't know that I had just eaten. The sick things that she said to me that made me feel ashamed, unloved and unworthy are now things that I say to myself. I have been aware of this problem, and I am working on it, but it is a slow path to recovery. I am glad that I took the time to put this out there. I know I am only as sick as my secrets. This isn't a secret anymore.

    Amarillo, TX

Hi there, I just moved to the Amarillo area, and contacted Dr. Crum's office. I was able to get an appointment for a fill. But it was cancelled because he is starting his own private practice, so I have to wait until January. You might want to check back with him.

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

Yes your stomach needs to adjust. A good rule of thumb is to chew 20 times (harder than it sounds) although each person is different, some may have trouble swallowing diferent foods, it is all trial and error.

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

Hi there, I have a 10cc band and was banded 11-29-06. I am getting completely discouraged. I have had 3 fills. 3cc, .6cc and .7cc. for a total of 4.2cc. I have only lost 30 pounds although my Dr thinks my weight loss is accurate. If I lose more than a pound a week, he won't give me a fill. I don't have restriction. I am attributing all of my weight loss to exercise. I hurt my back and haven't been able to exercise for a month. Since then I have had no weight loss. I feel like a failure. When I get a fill, I drink water until I feel full, each time I feel full, my Dr takes some out fearing that I will have too much restriction and won't be able to eat. I guess this next fill I will ask to keep in the original amount of saline when I feel full. Can anyone relate? Shellie
