  1. When I finally reached the point of knowing that I must do something about my weight I had 227 lbs to lose. I was so desperate after years of one failing diet after another... (Well the diets didn't fail...I failed the diets...) anyway I was so desperate I wanted to cut the fat off myself. Luckily I was still of sane mind and didn't go that route but I did explore my options. My insurance didn't cover the band. Gastric bypass wasn't an option for me... I didn't want to rearrange my anatomy, I discussed it with my husband and he told me he would stand behind me in my decision. He knew I was miserable on the inside. I found out the dr and hospital had a payment plan with no interest with some cash down. I went and met the dr... He was the 3rd one I spoke to... The other two seemed impersonal and I didn't feel I would get the support I needed after the surgery. I figured out the money end of it and threw myself into the band and the lifestyle it required whole heartly. I never cheated, I followed the dr's instructions and today I am typing this from my bed after having a tummy tuck and breast lift yesterday as my reward for doing all the right things. It's been a long road since that day I wanted to cut my fat off.... But with perserverience and hard work ...you can be there too. I wish your all the best.
  2. Slept most of today .... I haven't taken any painkillers yet today just uncomfortable no real pain.. Took off bandages per dr instructions before shower. Obvious swelling but looks good from what I can tell. The apron of skin is gone... My belly button looks like a belly button again and my breasts don't look like that of an 80 year old woman anymore. So far so good.
  3. 6 hrs post op.. Other then . Feeling a little groggy..... So far this isnt bad at all.... Sure hope it continues on this path..... Had some soup....a few bottles of water.... So far so good.
  4. Really exciting..... I am so tempted to take my bandages off to see what's going on down there.... But can't do that until tomorrow. I am 6 hrs post op.....
  5. Been home about an hour. No pain but I am on vicodine so feeling a bit drunk. First thing the post op nurse asked me was if I wanted something to drink,..coffee, tea water diet coke. I was like....this isn't a band nurse...lol
  6. Unless you plan on drinking flat beer my dr would tell you it shouldn't be under consideration. Wine or another no carbonation choice would be best. Just make it part of your daily calorie count.
  7. Granny panties....check Zip up front shirt....check Yoga pants which are a little big.....check Nothing to eat or drink after midnight..... Check Telling my LBT buds ciao for now!!!! I will post when I can..... Check Thanks for all these wonderful words of encouragement!!! I will answe your questions later.... But right now I have a date with a dr.....
  8. Not sure why you are on pain meds before surgery but I am sure you have told your band dr why... And I would bet that be the reason you are dizzy...of course it could be the lack of calories, protien, caffeine or even sugar. I had a headache and was light headed for the first 4 days then by day 5 I was ok. Good luck!!
  9. I had surgery on a Thursday. Didn't feel like doing anything until Sunday and I went to the store for about an hour and came home... I was exausted!! Everyone is different.... Just see how you feel.
  10. Anyone offended by a holiday greeting really needs a life. Happy holidays to you to!!
  11. I am less that 12 hrs away from another drastic step in my life as I go under the knife once again to improve the fabulous results that the lapband and my hard work over the last 2 years afforded me. My tummy tuck and breast lift is all set. gone will be my Jello belly and frowning belly button. The girls are getting lifted and some air will go back in the tires... I have lost so much weight that they now resemble half inflated Water balloons... Those long ones....I don't want to look like a twenty year old..... Just a healthy 52 year old woman who isn't quite done having a good life. I received a call from the dr and the anesthologist which I though was pretty cool. Both just wanted to make sure I was ready to go and had any last minute questions. Very classy. I have been nesting all day...at work making sure i left my desk so that i wont be missed too much....lol and at home doing things i fear my not be so easy in the coming days before Christmas. Just took the mega dose of antibiotics that the dr gave me...took me 20 minutes to swallow the 3 caplets. My band is just a constant reminder..... And I am getting ready to take my last warm bath for a while. Thought I would check in here as you all have become a wonderful support team and I appreciate your dedication to your health and well being. See you on the other side....
  12. Thanks so much.... I am excited!!!
  13. i can feel the port with no problem and every once in a while I can see a small egg like shape if I stare really hard but never through clothes and honestly its not obvious at all.
  14. I will add my name to the success list.... let me know if you have specific questions and I would be happy to answer them.
  15. You may want to start a thread so people will reply t o you
  16. Go to your profile page and them my settings I think...you can type in the screen nane and select the options
  17. Sounds very normal.... And when you get a fill you most likely will notice a difference...if not the first one the next one . Chewing just has to be a way of life now
  18. Your question is a little confusing. There is no particular diet ith the band... Have to spoken to your dr about getting banded yet?
  19. Well thanks but I would never expect to know what is right for another person... I can just share what has worked for me.
  20. I could die on Tuesday as I am going under for my tummy tuck. But I really don't think it's my time yet so I am going to hope for the best. To answer your follow up question....I have lost 220 lbs in 2 years. I ate a balanced diet of 1000 calories a day.
  21. Thanks so much for the helpful hints.... I really appreciate it Hope you feel even better tomorrow
  22. I don care for oatmeal but make sure whatever you buy is low in sugar. Eating oatmeal laced with sugar will defeat the purpose.
  23. I don't think I am qualified to answer it as I am not a trained professional but my opinion is that it sounds too low. I would refer you to someone who can better look at your individuall situation. If your nutritionist isnt helping... Is there a local hospital nutritionist who can guide you?
