I think if you're getting counseling and taking anti depressants, you should get approved. Just don't tell the person doing the physc eval that whenever you're depressed, you go to dairy queen, or eat a pizza. Tell them you're learning to deal with stress by exercising more.
Exercise really helps with stress. Those endorphins that are released when you exercise make you feel really good.

Way to go Ruthi! I remember how excited
I was when I fit into my first size 12s.

My biggest NSV ever was when I was talking with my trainer awhile back about
putting a profile up on a dating site. I asked him which box to check, average
or "a few exra lbs." I wanted a man's opinion. He said You're definitely average.

That same day, a man at the gym asked
me how I keep my legs so toned. I was
literally shocked. I just pointed to the machines I use.

I am pretty close to 60 . I just turned 58 on the 25th of this month.

I've lost all my weight and at times, I feel like a teenager.

I've always had really thick straight hair all of my life. When had band surgery, I lost half my hair. It kept falling out so I checked and I was anemic. Anemia can also cause Hair loss. so I started taking Iron and then 2 1/2 years later, had the sleeve, and again, I lost half my hair.
This time, it did grow back curly. I love it. It's still much thinner than it's every been and there are new hairs growing in all the time, so I have a lot of frizz.
I've learned which products help the curl stay in and which one I need to tame the firzzies down. I love it when it's curly and has a lot of body but it's still way thinner than it's ever been in my life.
I still take a multi Vitamin and Biotin and Iron, and I hope it gets thicker again over time.

I am dating someone new and I told him pretty early on. We were eating together often and if I didn't tell him, he would have thought I didn't like his cooking. He's fine with it. He's got extra skin himself cause he lost a lot of weight when he retired and wasn't sitting all day.

You lost your weight really quickly. Your mind has not had a chance to catch up with the fact that you are not fat anymore.
Just be nice to yourself. I'm sure you need new clothes. Have fun trying on all sorts of stuff in your size in a bunch of stores. Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you deserve to have a healthy body and you've worked hard to get it.
Stay away from negative people.Anyone that brings you down, needs to slowly be removed from your life.
it does help to have affirmations up in your house or to carry in your purse. Put whatever you want on them. "I am a kind and loving person and I deserve to be happy"

I've had a resting metobolic test taken twice. They were done years apart. they came out the same both times.
They show in order to maintain my weight, I can eat 1200 calories per day.
If I want to lose weight, I must eat less

I have really good success with the 5:2 diet. Mondays and Thursdays I eat as little as possible. You're supposed to try for 500 calories but I usually go over and it's about 700. 12 hours between last meal and first meal, longer if possible. I have almonds at 10pm so I can't eat Breakfast until 10, longer if possible.
The other days I eat low carb . I lost all of my regain doing this before, and kept it off for 2 years but last year I had back surgery and could not exercise and the holidays and my birthday bla bla bla I gained back 15 and have lost 5 of it.

What time zone is everyone in?
6pm would be good for me but that's 9 on the east coast?
I can open chat up at 6 pm but if anyone gets there earlier feel free to click on chat and see if you can leave it open til someone else joins in.
There used to be a door bell sound when someone enters that chat room. it really helps if you get to doing something else to hear that sound and know that someone has shown up to chat.
I'll be there pacific time at 6 pm.

I really wanted to give up on online dating since mostly hicks live in this town. I always get guys that want to take me fishing and hunting.
I rejoined Match and changed my pictures and profile. A guy popped up whom I had not seen before. Match has a way to live chat so we started messaging back and forth. He's apparently been lurking but finally joined on their 7 day free trial. He said he's seen my pictures before and wanted to write before but really wanted to hold it under 60. I am glad he messaged me because after chatting back and forth off and on all day Sunday, he finally suggested dinner. We really hit it off and I was amazed at how sweet and considerate he is. We talked at the table forever and then he asked if we could go to the beach and go hiking on Monday. Well that date lasted all day long and we were both kind of giddy about each other.
I am nervous cause he's only 55 and I am 63. I would have never messaged him. This morning he called and said he was deleting his match profile and hoped I would too. I did hide it instead of deleting it, cause I am not as optimistic as he is. I'd like to be, but I've been doing this awhile and something always turns out to be different than I thought.
I guess I am hopeful though! I know I loved being with him all day yesterday all day and into the evening!

Like it was stated before, we already have a veterans forum.
Are you asking Alex to put a stop to anyone posting in this forum who isn't 18 months post op? Or are you asking to start a new vets forum?
I don't want a new one started. I think there are too many already. ( forums)
If there is a way to stop anyone from posting in the current vets forum unless they are 18 months post op, then I am all for that.

I hope we get more interest too. Even if it's 3 people, that's a start. What time would be good for you? 5 is early for me, but i wanted to be considerate of the time zone. 7 would be great for me, but that's 10 on the east coast.
I'll work with people who want to chat, to find a time that is right for them.

There are people who like to spend time on the computer live chatting, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.
I begged Alex to put the chat button where people could see it and maybe we could get chat going again. We used to have a green button down on the right corner where you could see if people were in chat, sort of what they have on Facebook or facebook messenger.
The server is different now, which I assume is the reason the chat is completely different. You never know if anyone is in there.
i thought we could pick a day . I'd go with Monday. People are always trying to get back on track after the weekend. We have to remember time changes. I can usually look early on Mondays, like 5 pm which would be 8 pm on the east coast. I am not usually fond of day time chatting, but I could work with it.
We don't even have to talk about weight loss, sleeve or anything in particular. We could just shoot the breeze like "how was your day?" type stuff.
I know there are people who used to chat in yahoo chat rooms, or aol chat rooms, so maybe there are others like me that like to chat with their online friends.
    What do you think?

Most people don't know I had surgery.
I've had a few relationships since I've been sleeved 7 years. I've always told the guy I am a relationship with, but I wait until I know we are going to be eating meals together frequently. I've never had anyone react in a negative way.
I tell them I lost 100 lbs and they always say they are glad I did it because they don't know if we would have started dating if I was 100 lbs more than I am now .
