Oregondaisy got a reaction from Justjoan in Any veteran sleevers out there? Really waffling here. . .
    Get rid of that band!!
I had the band for 2 1/2 years, and I've had the sleeve now for 3 1/2 years now. There is no comparison. Just go and read all the band to sleeve revision stories and you'll find everyone is so much happier to be rid of the band and get sleeved.
The sleeve works like the band was supposed to. I can eat anything I want, just smaller portions.
If you choose a good surgeon who has done revision surgeries, there aren't high statistics for complications. Complications do happen, but they are rare.

My vit D was really low too. WASa told me one of the symptoms was sugar cravings
and since I have really started increasing
it, I notice that my sugar cravings really
have gone down. The only other thing I take besides the Biotin is calcium citrate and a multi Vitamin. The rest are all herbs that have made an amazing difference with
    my interstitial cystitis.

I have to take a bunch of stuff for my interstitial cystitis. They are all herbs. I got a book called herbs and the urinary tract. Those herbs have helped me so much, and I am really glad I can get them all down.

Oregondaisy got a reaction from jo ann c troupe in The Gastric Sleeve Chat Room Is Always Open!
There was another thread where someone said they can never find anyone in the chat room.
We chat in the evenings. It depends on your time zone. I try to check in early for those on the east cost.
Last night we were chatting til past 1 am pacific time and the person I was chatting with was a couple hours ahead of me.
Keep checking! You have to open a separate window and minimize it. Then what I do is read posts or email etc, and I wait for the doorbell that will ring and I will know someone came in.
You can always private message someone too and ask them to meet you in the chat room at a certain time. I have done that before too.
Chatting is a lot of fun and also a great way to get questions answered.

Oregondaisy got a reaction from The 56 Bypass in Worried about getting too thin?
Eating healthy fats is a good way to stabilize weight loss. Nuts are often suggested by doctors as healthy Snacks. As Tiff suggested, Peanut Butter is another healthy fat. You can eat it on crackers. I like to smear it on apples. You can eat more fruit too. You may have to concentrate on eating small amounts more often.

Oregondaisy got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Back for support - nearly 7 years sleeved!
I am really upset about my regain but I can't seem to do anything about it. Since I broke my back, I can't really exercise. Now I have to have neck surgery.
It really stinks that I got used to being thin or average and now I am chunky. I need to lose about 25 lbs but I don't even know how to make that happen.
It would be so easy to become bulimic. The bad foods go down so easily but if I eat meat I am way too full way too fast. I hate that feeling that my stomach is going to explode. All I want to do it throw up so I am not so full.

Glad to see some of the old timers here.
My story is long- and I really don't feel like typing all the problems that caused 4 back surgeries. I can't really exercise the way I used to. I have almost given up caring about my weight gain. Wearing a 14 is way better than wearing a 24.
I do eat right but I can't wear any of the clothes I saved in case I gained weight back. The pants I wore when I was 145 during my first year after being sleeved don't even come close to fitting. I have lost all the muscle I gained when I was going to the gym every day. It makes me mad that I weigh 145 and clothes I wore at 145 before don't fit, but I can't risk doing anything to hurt my back. I can barely walk now. I am in a lot of pain if I try to walk even a block.

hey can someone tell me how this can feel good? It seems like it would hurt and how do you get pleasure from that. I have heard there are people who get pleasure out of pain.

You should have some blood work done. You could be deficient in something and one sign of blood sugar being wonkers is thirst.
How long has it been since you've had your Calcium, vit D, vit B12 and Iron levels checked?

Yes, I need to start working out. I need to strengthen my core. So, I have to start doing exercises at home. I know how to exercise, I just preferred to do it at the gym. It doesn't make sense for me to join the gym again when there's so many of the machines I can't use.
My back surgery caused me to lose my appetite for a long time so I did lose my regain and that's a really good thing!

I have been hungrier than usual. I never had hunger pangs since surgery but I do get them now. I never know what to eat. Nothings sounds good.
I haven't had a Protein Shake since I got home from the hospital but I think I'm going to try to do a few days of mainly shakes. I am starting to gain again.
I can't exercise at all. I see the surgeon this week. I can't wait to see the xrays. I want to know what's going on. I had a hole in my back because when I fell I broke L3 and it was just in crumbled up pieces so they had to take it out.
Hang in there. I know exactly what it feels like to not have your clothes fit.

Coops it's so common to regain about that much after 5 years post op. I had gained 15 lbs but I had emergency back surgery and i was in the hospital and a rehab center for a long time. The food was awful and I lost 20 lbs. There were days I didn't eat anything at all.

Maintenance is way harder!! In the beginning, if I gained something, all I had to do was eat the right way and it came off. Now, if I eat wrong, I gain about 3 lbs and no matter what I do such as Protein Shakes all day, with a high Protein small dinner and the scale doesn't move . It sure moves up if I eat wrong though.
I am 8 years post sleeve. I am considering doing a complete fast.

I think getting a scope is a good idea. they can measure your capacity.
I don't know exactly how much i can eat, but I know very well when I eat too much, it's very painful so I try my best to stop before I am full.

I've lost all my weight and at times, I feel like a teenager.

Regarding vets giving advice (or not giving advice) - I noticed something that rubs me the wrong way all along:
There is a thread started, someone is asking for help. Several people respond with more or less helpful answers - and the thread starter seems to have vanished into thin air all too often.
Means: there is no appreciation or feedback. Too many times thread starters don't appreciate the time and effort other users put into answering their questions. Now I don't expect detailed answers to every post, but a simple "thanks everyone for their time to respond" isn't too much to ask for, or is it?
The lack of feedback is also frustrating. A simple "thank you, I'm going to try this" or "thank you, I already did that and it didn't work" or "thank you, I did what you suggested and it helped" (or didn't help if that's the case) would be much appreciated.
Don't know about others here, but I'd like to know if the advice I gave was helpful or not.

It's really hard. I have no willpower if I see someone else eating sweets. I just end up binging on something later if I don't have some of what my friend or eating partner is having at the time.
I just need to have a few carb free days then I know it will get way easier but I can't seem to make that.

The food I want isn't the right food! It's terrible. I could probably eat Taco Bell every day. Who even knows if that's all hamburger without fillers. I still love fast food, even though I can't eat a big portion.
I crave sweets all the time. It's very hard not to give into all the sweets I come across every single day.
