  1. Thanks for all the responses. I'm feeling very sore today but expected it. The shoulder pain is not as bad as yesterday. The heating pad has helped a lot. Still trying to get rid of the sore throat. I feel the gas in my upper chest today... trying to keep walking around so it comes out. Not the best feeling. Had a hard time sleeping last night. Was unable to sleep laying down on the bed so I propped myself up on many pillows on the couch. Got in a few hours of sleep. Over all feeling okay. I expected most of what I'm feeling so just trying to get through it. Looking forward to healing and getting my weight loss started. Good luck to all the new November bandsters!
  2. I think you should support her if this is something she wants to do. Dieting is hard, most times leaves you starving and then you just end up over eating and gaining more weight then when you started. Lap Band is a very low risk procedure and almost everyone who has it wishes they would've done it sooner. It works by controlling portions and making you feel full. She doesn't have to give up all of her favorite foods. Its about moderation. You should be happy that she wants to get healthy. Especially if you want her to be around a long time. Like others suggested, go to the seminar with her that way you can get a better understanding of it. Wither she decides to get it or not you should be supportive.
  3. The shoulder pain for me has been worse then anything else. The doctor said if you continue to walk around it will eliminate some of the gas and the pain will go away. I have walked several times today and hasn't made a difference for me. Most people say by day 2 its much better so I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Good luck to you next week!
  4. Hi FBS! :rolleyes2: Glad to hear the shoulder and neck pain calms down on day 2. Its horrible! I bet you are glad to be home. I am so glad I didn't have to stay in the hospital. My back was hurting in that hospital bed just after a couple hours..No matter what position I put it in. I made sure to get my Water down and walk so i could go home LOL. I haven't gone into the chat but I will defiantly have to check it out! Keep in touch!
  5. I have a killer sore throat also! Have you tried the sugar free popsicle's? I have been eating those since I got home today and they seem to help some. It kinda soothes the throat. Give it a try if you haven't already.
  6. Was banded today and surgery went great. Sore, shoulder pain and sore throat but over all feeling pretty good. Just wanted to post since I finally get to be on the Post-op forums.... Yay!!!! Looking forward to a new me! :rolleyes2:
  7. My surgery went really well. I'm really sore, like the day after you've done way to many sit ups. I have to say though, the shoulder pain and sore throat pain was far more worse then the incisions. I am taking liquid vicodin for pain but unfortunately it does nothing for the shoulder pain. Over all I feel pretty good though. Glad to hear everyone's surgery went great. :rolleyes2:
  8. Hi FBS! Glad to hear your surgery went great and you are doing well!!
  9. Hi Ape087! I live in Orange County. Getting banded tomorrow at Placentia Linda hospital. Keep in touch and let me know how your doing! Good luck to you.
  10. Yeah I've been worried about that too... unlike most of you here, I did not have to do a liquid only diet and was able to eat one meal a day. The more I read about other people and their strick pre-op diet to shrink the liver, more and more i think about them not being able to band me. My doctor seemed really confident yesterday so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. It would totally suck to wake up and be told they were unable to put a band. You've lost a good amount of weight so I'm sure all will be fine for you. Good luck!
  11. Hello again everyone! Tomorrow is the big day... how is everyone feeling? I'm getting really nervous...excited about getting the band but nervous about the surgery. I know the nerves are normal I'm just having a lot of different feelings right now. At least mine if first thing in the morning and I don't have to sit through half a day like some of you. Good luck to everyone and let us know how you are doing after the surgery!
  12. Well that's great news... get the nerves over and done with. I had my final appointment today so I am offically ready to go! My surgery is now scheduled for 7:30am so I check into the hospital at 5:30am. I will be leaving my house at 4am due to traffic.. Yikes that's early! Good luck tomorrow... let us know how you are doing and what you experinced. Might help us with the nerves tomorrow LOL Take care and wishing you a speedy recovery as well!
  13. My surgery is scheduled for November 10th and I am paying out of pocket. Even though it is a lot of money, I am determined to get healthy and therefore it is "worth" the money. I think about all the things I can do once I lose some weight and how much happier I will be and that's all my focus is on. Good luck to you!
  14. Hi FBS! Yes I am so ready... getting nervous but really excited. I check into the hospital at 6am and the surgery is scheduled for 8am. I'm looking forward to the fat suit coming off too! LOL
  15. Hello everyone!! We are now only 3 days away! :smile2: Glad to hear everyone is doing so well on their pre-op diets. Mine wasn't as strict so it explains why I've only lost a few pounds. Based on your guys success on the liquids, I'm looking forward to seeing my results after the band and being on the liquids only. Good luck to everyone on surgery day!
  16. Wow 13 pounds is great... good for you!
  17. LOL that's funny!! I am actually one of the lucky ones that still gets to eat one meal a day however I've been making an effort to eat a healthy meal. Today one of my co-workers decides to get french fries and eat them in my office and you know how french fries smell... OMG I was about to kill him! Over all feeling good though. Looking forward to my band and starting a new me.
  18. I am paying out of pocket so mine was pretty easy. I had a phone consult today and she just asked me some questions. Things like: Are you married Do you have support from your husband Who are your support team Have you gotten any negative comments when telling people you are getting Lap band What was the last stressful event that happened to you How did you handle the stress Have you been diagnosed with any eating disorder How long have you been over weight What is the reason for wanting Lap band Do you have depression or been diagnosed with depression What do you do at work How long have you worked there ETC..... Nothing to be scared or worried about. Hope this helps a little.
  19. I think being nervous is normal for everyone. It's surgery and any kind of surgery is scary! I've been reading the forum here called "Surgery day stories" and that has seemed to help me with the mental part. Doesn't seem quite so bad when other people talk about their experiences on surgery day. Check it out! Take care and good luck to you...
  20. Hello November 10th bandsters! We are officially 1 week away from surgery! How is everyone feeling? I'm so excited and nervous at the same time! Good luck to everyone and look forward to hearing from you guys as the days get closer!
  21. I'm hoping to go home the same day too. They make sure you can get down so many ounces of Water and are able to get up and walk on your own. Based on the forums seems like most people go home within a couple hours!
  22. I was just thinking today how surgery is only 11 days away... can't believe it. So excited and nervous at the same time. I think I'm doing okay with my diet... could be a little bit better but def better then how I used to eat. By the way... what time is everyone's surgery on the 10th? Mine is scheduled at 8am and I have to check into the hospital at 6am. Yikes that's early! :wink2:
  23. Awww so sorry to hear that. You defiantly don't want to put your body through a surgery if you are not 100%! Get lots of rest and hopefully you will get better. Keep us posted!
