    4 MONTH UPDATE

Hello everyone, it has been awhile since my last update so I guess it is about time. So, really no complaints. Life if good, everything is going well and I am chugging along at a very satisfying pace. I have lost 113 lbs total and 76 lbs since surgery! I measured myself for the first time since surgery the other day, really most of my body measurements are the same which I find a little weird after loosing 113lbs. I do carry most of my weight in my belly, and have small arms and small legs so I guess it makes sense. I lost a total of 4 inches all over my body PLUS 14 inches in my waist alone. No bad I suppose. I can eat anything except COLD chicken (I guess it is too dry cold) but it makes me sick every time I tried so I stopped. I also struggle a bit with actual soft bread, it doesn't make me sick but it hits me like a brick. Toast, crackers, wraps are all fine though. I eat a very balanced diet of everything as my dietician recommends while making sure I hit my protein and fluid goals. I usually don't have room for carbs once I eat the protein but every once in a while I get some in and I don't mind it. I have splurged a few times with treats, very minimal a few bites 2 or 3 times. Haven't had any issues with that and I have never dumped. The list of NSV's could go on for days. I played tennis the other day for the first time since loosing weight and the difference was unbelievable. I didn't even get out of breath while running back and forth across the court, because really we suck at tennis so there is a lot of running but it is fun. My knees don't grind, my feet and ankles no longer swell even after walking all day, I don't walk up the stairs all on one leg anymore, I FIT ON ROLLER COASTERS!, I walk around the water park in my bathing suit now. I bought a new bathing suit and feel good in it. I don't find excuses to drive place even when it is less than a mile away, I just naturally walk. (I live in the city) I went from a size 26 jeans to a size 18/20 depending on the cut. From a 4x tshirt to a 2x tshirt. My shoes are loose, probably don't need "wide width" anymore. Still working through my skinny days clothes so I have only bought 1 new outfit for a nice dinner because I don't have anything other than jeans, and mostly tshirts that fit now. By the end of the year I will need an entirely new wardrobe! I am looking forward to the shopping. (For once in my life!) I could go on and on but you get the hint! I hope everyone is well! ❤️

    How's it going PO peeps?

I understand about the hummus thing, because I used to be ALL about sweets, and now all I want is sour/tangy. Tomato soup is my new best friend.. 🤤

re: the fear of dying = banish that thought. You're not going to die. Weight loss surgeries years ago were dangerous, but they just aren't anymore. Techniques have vastly improved, and these have become very common, routine surgeries. They're really no more risky than any other abdominal surgery. The mortality rate on gastric bypass is 0.3 %. It's even lower for sleeve. So you have at least a 99.7% chance of not dying. Those are excellent odds. Better odds than hip replacement surgeries, and they do those all the time. Honestly, you're more like to experience complications and death by remaining obese than you will be having the surgery. the pre-op diet is tough - and the first few weeks post-op can be tough, too (although in many cases, the pre-op part is worse). But you'll be through this before you know it. I would have this surgery again in a heart beat. No regrets whatsoever.

Congrats on your smooth recovery so far! PS: Those Bariatric Advantage chews are disgusting. Actually, i tried muleiple brands. They are are unbearable, for me anyway. I know some people like the Bariatric fusion brand. They were the best of the worse for me. I still couldn't stomach them daily. Luckily I was cleared for pills and large capsules at 2 weeks. Good luck, I hope you find something you like.

    Back pain disappearing

My desk at work is low and I am very tall. I think it makes it worse. I am going to probably ask my boss to make it higher. Even if they use wooden blocks or something. I don't care but I think it is most of the problem with the hunching. But it definitely started recently, which is strange to me.

Glad you are starting to feel better mentally! It really doesn't sound like dumping to me although I have never had it, it doesn't sound like what I was told in my class. I guess it could be different for everyone though. I had bad diarrhea for about the first week or so after surgery too. I don't know what it was from because it was random but it passed.

    Post Op Coffee

I drink iced coffee on a daily basis (Circle K Sip & Save for the win!). I find that cold brew coffee is easier on the stomach (gentler, less acidic) and the sugar free syrups/stevia help it be sweet enough. The other benefit of coffee, besides caffeine, is that it has a salutary effect on the colon to keep things regular.

I am 16 months out and I can comfortably eat about one serving of most things. Not everyone can eat a full serving though. I see people who say there is no way they could eat like a hamburger for instance. I can’t eat a big one like one from a restaurant but I make small burgers at home and I can eat that with a thin roll which seems more than I expected to be able to eat. I also make fish sandwich with those thin rolls and fish filets and I can finish that whole thing. Normally I eat around. 3-4 ounce serving of protein and some veggies and I am done though. I mean I am satisfied and I stop myself but I could eat more if I tried. Or if I have cauliflower pizza I only make one slice but I could probably eat more. I can’t eat a whole salad still for some reason. I mainly eat the toppings off of it with a little bit of lettuce and toss the rest. To sum it up I basically eat the main entree portion of what I used to eat and skip the rest.
