    This-is-my-journey

Going on 15 months post op

Hi everyone! I haven't been on here for awhile! I hope everyone finds this website as usfl as I did and still do! its been almost 15 months since my Surgery. My starting weight was 465 lbs and as of this morning I am down to 222lbs exactly that's a 243 weight loss total. I hit a stall for Weeks!! so I started walking more and added more food to my diet (healthy food of course) once I started that the weight started coming off again (PHHHEW) I am 42 lbs away from my original goal weight and let me tell you.. THIS FEELS AMAZING!!!! my life has completely changed for the better.. im more active and im living the life I always wanted for me and my daughter if anyone is deciding to get this surgery I will always tell you GO FOR IT!!! I had fears but the happiness of feeling free and "normal" outweighs that fear I had before deciding to have this surgery. it literally saved my life! good luck to those who are starting their journey and keep it up! I will always say this; This was the best decision I ever made and I do not regret anything!!!!!!

I chose vsg, because I didn't have gerd or acid reflux issues, and didn't want to have to worry about taking tons of vitamins. I also didn't have that much weight to lose, and didn't think that I needed the malabsorptive benefits of RNY. Both surgeries have tons of benefits and some drawbacks though. Good Luck!

Thanks to all that have responded. I have diabetes, Gerd and chronic bad back, all that I think that will benefit from wls. I'm thinking that the RNY will be the procedure I'll have due to the Gerd and diabetes. I want to be around for my grandkids and not sit out of their activities. Thank you again. Would love to chat more with anyone who's interested. I live in San Quentin in Northern California to give a point of reference. Candy

((hugs)) Sorry about your miscarriage and happy about your 2 children. If it were me, I would do 2 things now. 1. Go see my WLsurgeon and get them to send me to a nutritionist and a therapist in that order. Start the 6 month documentation with the therapist now. Get to finally working on the eating behaviors that are keeping me heavy and down. Get all of my blood work done to r/o thyroid, endocrine issues and/or underlying medical conditions. 2. Start working on getting an approval for revision to DS and find a surgeon in my network that can do that revision surgery--not all surgeons will or can do revisions to DS or RNY. Honestly, at this present weight and with the problems you had losing to goal with the VSG and if it was me, I'd go nuclear on my weight. DS is THEEEEEEEE most effective wl tool from a malabsorption standpoint--especially given what I think may also be the emotional/psychological eating issues associated with the regain and present weight. BTW, no judgement here. We all deal with emotional/behavioral issues with food relationships that simply MUST be fixed if we want to have any hope of losing and keeping the weight off long term.

I also hit an overweight BMI today. I started at a BMI of 50 just over a year ago. Congrats to us! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
