    I feel wonderful

I am almost five weeks post surgery. Today I worked out for an hour. I have been able to do that in years. I love weight lifting and being fit and I can finally do it again. I have rheumatoioid arthritis and diabetes. Before the surgery I was constantly sick, I had cellulitis 3 times last year. I have worked out 4 days so far this week and I'm sleeping less. I have my life back. I feel like I was in prison before and I have now been released. This is the real me. I may not get down to my goal weight as I love lifting heavy weights. But I have already gotten out of this surgery what I wanted, improved health and energy.

    9 weeks out

It took me 4 months to lose 40 pounds, yet I'm not griping. Your weight loss journey is a marathon, not a sprint. Slow and steady wins the race, while fast and crass won't last. The final result is more important than the speed at which we lose the weight. I've lost 100 pounds, attained my goal weight, and have managed to keep the weight off. That's what's important. Good luck to you.

If you don't own a scale and why?

I also weigh myself daily and feel the same way about the daily weights as Outsidematchinside and Apple1. It's nice for me to see how my fluid intake (or lack of), food choices, etc affect my weight on a daily basis but I only record my weight on Saturdays and don't freak out over the fluctuations (both good and bad). It has seriously helped me adjust my habits by seeing my day to day weight... it has also helped me see how my menstrual cycle affects my weight too and it's nice to see what the scale says when I feel I'm retaining water. Before surgery I would feel so defeated seeing the day to day weights but after I'm like *shoulder shrug* whatever no biggie. I agree with Outsidematchinside it definitely does desensitize me and my "official" weigh ins are drama free compared to before surgery when I would almost feel like I needed to be committed to a mental institution after official weigh ins.

    Pre-op Food Prep

Ok guys, needs some insight. Besides the obvious : gas x strips, protein shakes, measuring cups, water, SF jello, broth, vitamin water zero, SF ice pops. Is there anything else I should stock up on, surgery is scheduled for 7/18/2017 and I'm shopping for everything on 7/15/2017. Help!! Thanks <3

    NSV Victory - Bloodwork

Just had follow up blood work done, specifically to test for Vitamin D and A1C levels - pre surgery my Vitamin D was at 10, now at 29 (recommended is 30+). My A1C was at 7%, now at 5.8% (7 is diabetic and 5.8 is pre-diabetic). Feels so great to moving myself outside of the dangers that come with diabetes! Fortunately all my other numbers were good. And, I have just donated 10 bags of professional clothing that no longer fits me and my closets are empty. I want to thank the posters of these Forums - I don't fear the stalls (had a week 5 one, others to come no doubt), I am tracking everything, relate to the # on the scale as a tool to assess what's working and what's not working and feel great. I am proud to have lost 30% of my excess weight and can't believe what has gotten accomplished in the past two months!!!!! Life is a privilege!

    No weight loss

If you are following your doc/nuts plan don't worry the weight will come off. We are all individuals and will lose at the pace our bodies want to. Stalls are common along the way so if it stresses you out when the scale doesn't go down I would suggest to weigh less often. Your body is healing right now. You will lose if you stick to the plan. Try to relax and enjoy the journey.

    Help tired all the time!!!

Hard breathing? Do you mean you're worked up, so are "panting" from emotion, or you are finding it difficult to breathe? If you are having trouble breathing, please go to an emergency room right away. If you don't think it's an emergency: Try consuming something that has some carbohydrate in it. You might be having a low blood sugar problem. What kind of carbohydrates can you tolerate? I normally recommend juice, but we don't want you to dump. Milk might work, applesauce, etc.... then follow it up with a protein food. Give your surgeon or doctor a call today to see if they can see you. You might be short on some nutrients, or it could be coming from a physical problem (if you don't have a pain or fever, it's probably NOT a problem with the surgery). Many people have crazy mood swings post op, but I think this probably has a physical cause.
