I am 40 years old, soon to be 41. I started thinking about wls two years ago and actually wanted to have Gastric Bypass. I had no co-morbidities so my ins. would not cover it. At that time I weighed 262. I now am up to 280. I am 5'9" and at the highest weight I have ever been. I actually am glad that I didn't get the bypass surgery, because I think for me the lapband is a better choice.

I have two sons ages 6 and 4 and am horrified that one day they will be embarassed when another child talks about how fat their mommy is.:cry

I am self pay, my husbands company switched ins. and they don't cover wls so I couldn't even try to see if I would qualify for lapband surgery. My Dr. is Dr. David Dyer in Nashville. I really like him,I have been to the seminar and had my consult with him. I have to schedule my psyche evaluation and hopefully in the next three weeks will be having surgery. Not really sure what to except having the psyche evaluation. Should be interesting.

Yes, I am so afraid of not being able to fit in an amusement park ride and wouldn't even attempt it at this point. I love roller coasters and want to take the kids to lots of different parks one day. How old are your children? What state do you live in? I am in Nashville Tennessee, been here since I was 6 years old.

Hope to talk to you again

I had the band because I was afraid of all the complications of GB and had 2 year old twins. It was like a double edge sword. Be fat with all of the complications, unable to do the things I want to do with me kids. Or risk having WLS and not being there for my kids is something happend. I had the surgery in 2005. I have lost 120 pounds. I would make payments for the rest of my life if my insurance did not pay for it. I can not tell you the fun i have with my kids now. My band is the best thing I have ever done. I know am in the 100 club in my weight. I had to get aff a rollercoaster because I could not fit. I now have to adjust the belt smaller :> Good Luck to and do not be afraid it is awesome. I would do this all over in a heart beat if I had to. Good Luck.
