26 Days Out, And Can't Eat Much Food At A Time, And Not Much Of An Appetite Either!

NewBeginningsForMe2012

OK, so I'm 26 days post op, and I'm finding that I can't eat very much before I feel full, and I don't have much of an appetite either! I think I must be going through another healing stage, or something? Water goes down great, but anything else I try to eat, I can only eat like one egg with cheese, or a small amount of soup. Did anybody else go through this at about a month out? Also my weight has slowed down too! I was losing 1 pound a DAY for the first two weeks, now it's like I'm staying the same. I know I'm not suppose to weigh everyday, but I'm so anxious to get my weight off! My husband's Christmas party for his shop is on the 15th, and I want to be down as much as possible. I can't wait until I'm like 6 months out, so I'll be passed all these food issues, or at least I hope I will. I have Celiac, so I have that to deal with too. I have to stay away from anything with gluten in it, or man do I get sick!

From all the post that I have read, it sound like your doing good. I hope I do as well as you have. How was the first few weeks after surgery. I don't have Celiac disease but I have a gluten intolerance. I have to be very careful so not to get in that way to just like you. My surgery is Dec 5 and I am very nervous. Some of the stories are scarey. I don't like to be nauseous or throw up.So I will try very hard to only drink what and as much as I should. If you have any tips, they would be greatly appreciated.

Any tips? Hum, let me think. Make sure any protein drinks or protein powders do NOT have any wheat in them! Read the labels, because some of the protein drinks, powders, and flavored proteins will say they were made in a factory where wheat products were also made. Drink SLOW, eat slow, and stop if you start to feel full, or nauseous. My first few weeks after surgery were good and bad. I had my good days, and my not so good days. Everyone is different, and has different experiences with the sleeve. Just do what the doctor's and nurses tell you to do, and you'll be fine! I don't think anyone likes to feel nauseous, or to throw up. I know I didn't and don't, but I made it through it, and you will too. Everyone says you have to look a head to how great you will feel, and how much weight you're going to lose! The "bigger picture" so to speak. Good luck, and let me know how you do. :) Kathy

Dont be scared everyone is different. I myself had no complications after surgery. No pain , just a few days of feeling nauseous..but htats about it. I didnt even need any of the pain meds I was given. You will be fine and the things you go through or what i have encountered were small things and not horrible. But i am finding out 6 weekds post op that your mind and body have got to be on the same page. this is a big adjustment from your past eating habits etc. but at the end of the day i know it will be worth the ride. I pray you do okay and its a new beginning for you as for all of us that need this tool to be healthy.

That you both so much. I try to focus on the end results and not worry about leaks and nausea. But its hard not to do sometimes. I will do exactly what they tell me to do but I know I will have trouble getting enough fluids. I am excited and nervous. I will keep you posted.

I belong to a monthly support group and one of the women who is currently 5 months out, says she eats her 2 oz of protein and is usually full. She ALWAYS eats that first and then starts on a veggie. It was suggested by her nut that she buy a beautiful 6" plate and have every meal on it. That way she will retrain her brain as to portion size and she will start feeeling like she has cleaned her plate. She sets her phone to remind herself to eat regularly because she has little to no appetite..

Good luck.
