Sleeve's A Secret

I was just wondering if anyone out there who has had the sleeve have made the desicion not to tell people that they had it done. I work and choose not to tell anyone at work. This decision was made because I know a few people that have had weight loss surgery and were not successful at it. I just felt that if I didn't succeed I would be one of them and I have failed so many times at trying to lose weight that I didn't want to a failure again.

Did not tell all my coworkers. Only the ones close to me. I don't believe I have to share something so personal. One came up to me, and said I heard you might be getting surgery?! Why? just watch what you eat... At that moment I said to myself ( and to her ) yep!!! that's the reason I am not telling people about my private life and walked away.

I am not planning on telling anyone. They are all used to my weight loss attempts, so they won't really question the way that I will be eating. Last summer I did 8 weeks on what is referred to here as full liquids - I am just going to say that is my summer diet.

I guess I have not shame but I pretty much told everyone! I have never been embarrassed about being overweight and it's just easy for me to tell people. The only people I have not really told is my husbands family but that is because I am hardly around them. I kind of mentioned it on FB yesterday and I am hoping they ask me a few questions so I can just tell them. We will see!

I guess we are all different and I truly believe that there is nothing wrong with NOT telling people.

I also chose to not tell anyone at work , My mom , husband and kids know and that is basically it , I get sleeved in July however started letting everyone at work know that I am seeing a dietician and going to the gym everyday at lunch so to them I will be loosing weight that way .....

I don't offer it up, but if I'm asked I will tell them. Most of the time it is people like me, (pre surgery me) wanting to know what I have done. I want to help as many people as I can make their own decision about weight loss. This has been a significant life choice and I am healthier and happier about life for it. Just want to let people know there is hope out there.

I do, however, understand wanting to keep it quite at the workplace.

I have chosen to tell people I care about and with whom I work closely. I am single and live alone, and I will need the support of my community before and after surgery. I've worked with the same people for over 10 years, and with PCOS, nothing I've tried has let me lose more than 18 lbs or so... and it is silly to think they will assume weight watchers if finally working for me. I'd rather be upfront with them, and seek their support on my journey. I am grateful for a loving community, all of whom seem excited for me and my new beginning.

I agree that there is no shame in NOT telling. We tend to know whether or not support will be offered from those around us. I have been blessed with overwhelming support from doctors, family, friends, and co-workers. I am grateful

I only told a few but the word got out. People see a big change they figure it out. Most are supportive. Some are judgemental.. Oh well I just tell the one that if they cooked for me I wouldnt of done it. That stops them.
