So Strange Getting Used To Eating Differently

I used to be able to eat what I wanted, when I wanted, but now it is so strange to barely be able to eat 4 spoonfuls of refried beans! My stomach growled so much I was beginning to wonder if this would ever end.

I am looking forward to eating solids again (shrimp is my fav) but so worried that all the foods I used to love will no longer be tolerated by my sleeve. I guess I just have to adjust and get used to it, but it's strange when so much of my life is centered around food. We celebrate around it, it was a way to take time to greet friends, and just an enjoyable thing to do. I think I will have to find new hobbies.

I am down 20 lbs from when I first weighed in, but now I have stalled. Ok, I have to keep telling myself to stay away from the scale. On a better note, I have to wear belts with my work slacks because they are falling off my waist. WOO HOO!

We are in the exact same position. I am in the mushy/pureed stage and food seems so different now. My first experience with refried beans kept me full for a day and a half. It seems like I'm full just drinking water. On top of that, my weightloss has also stalled. Although I'm not terribly disappointed with the stall, my relationship with my stomach really has me down. I don't feel like myself. It feels like I'll never be able to move from the pureed stage.

Y'all hang in there. There are ups and downs in the speed of weight loss, especially at the points where you add different types of food. And there's the infamous 3-week stall that might happen at any point in the first couple of months and last for a LONG time! Trust your sleeves.

I understand about food being a central point around which your social activities revolve--same here. Now, almost 9 months out, I still enjoy gatherings and social activities--I've just learned how to do it within the new restrictions. I eat snack-sized meals, slowly, and enjoy the conversation and visiting with people I don't see every day. At business functions, I chat with different groups while holding the exact same plate of stuff the whole time--nobody knows (or cares, really) that you're not eating.

Check in with the scale but don't let it ruin your mood! It's all going to come out okay.

Just sleeved on Dec. 30th. The Dr's office told us to chew our foot to a puree and always put down your fork. I am always the last one done eating, because I eat slow regardless. I hope with a smaller plate, I will be about the same speed with fewer food.

It does bother me about the not drinking during means. That is going to be difficult for me. I know someone who was sleeved about 2 months ago and when they go out to eat, they have to tell the waitress several times to not bring any water out.

This kind of bothered me as someone who doesnt like to stand out, sooooo I figured I would just order a diet coke. I can not stand the taste of diet coke...it repulses me. It will just have to sit there because I will not even be tempted.

I'M 3 WEEKS AND 5 DAYS OUT. I WENT OUT TO A NICE MEXICAN RESTAURANT WITH MY HUSBAND LAST NIGHT. I ORDERED THE TORTILLA SOUP, ONLY ATE A COUPLE SPOONS, AND THE BLACK BEAN CAKES. I ATE A WHOLE ONE AND ABOUT 3 CHIPS. I WAS SO COMFORTABLE AND FELT SO GOOD. IVE LOST 32 POUNDS AND HAVE VENTURED ON A NEW STYLE. I WENT OUT AND HAD MY HAIR COLORED, NAILS DONE AND I'M DONE TWO SIZES. IT HELPED ME CHANGE ALL MY OLD HABITS. MY NEW LIFE IS WHAT I DREAMED IT WOULD BE, EXCEPT I STILL HATE EXERCICE, BUT I DO IT. GOOD LUCK.
