If I see another protein shake I just might hurt someone

I don't know how you all did it. I started my self imposed pre-op diet today and it sucks. big time. I am so sick of protein shakes already. I used to really enjoy them. I am crabby, I feel bloated and disgusting. I can't believe there are some people on here who did it for a month. HOW DID YOU SURVIVE?!? How did you not inflict bodily harm on those around you!?!?

I haven't exercised today (which is weird for me) because I haven't had any energy. Wednesday can't come soon enough.

To keep with the theme, I'm going to write a list of 3 things I hate about my pre-op diet

3. Protein Shakes

2. Protein Shakes

1. PROTEIN SHAKES.

sorry you feel this way. I love my daily protein shakes. Maybe it's your brand, flavor etc. I only drink chocolate (Body Fortress) in 8 oz of skim milk, a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and it becomes as thick as Wendy's or McDonald's shakes. I have one for breakfast every morning for about 16 months and I am only banded 11 months.

I loved my protein shakes before they became the only thing I could eat all day long. 4 protein shakes a day and nothing else makes me cranky and sick of the protein shakes.

"my self imposed pre-op diet" There might be your problem. Why are you limiting yourself to only protein shakes?

Hey Terry. It is self imposed because my BMI is 34.8, so my surgeon said I didn't have to do a pre-op diet. I decided to do one anyways to help the transition. I am following the pre-op diet set up by the nutritionist in the bariatric clinic I go to. It is 3-5 protein shakes a day and SF popsicles. They want us between 750 to 1000 calories a day. The SF popsicles are awesome, but don't quite hit the spot

i have a great friend named Beanie.... i love her... Anywho, my surg didn't take BMI into concid .... the pre op diet was to help him in the surg with my liver to become more pliable But i was able to eat soup and pudding too. 750-1000, such a small amount of cals.

Good luck with everything....

People with BMI's over 35 are more likely to have fatty liver. If your liver is fatty and larger than 'normal' then it obscures the surgeon's vision and is more difficult to pull out of the way for the surgery.

I think I am in detox more than anything. My body just doesn't feel right.

i'm on day two. I'm doing two protein shakes and a lean cuisine. I'm under 800 calories a day. Hang in there.
