3 Years On October 22Nd 2012 - Annual Checkup

It has been a while since I logged in here. But Almost 3 years later I am 6 pounds from goal weight of 140 and I have lost 100 pounds! I lost 68lbs in first year and 20 lbs each year thereafter. I have not worked out so would have been faster if I did that! But went to see Dr Rantis today and band position looks good! I have a 10cc band and it is filled to 5.25ccs and no more restriction needed! I am a size 6 and it feels great! Foods that have been eliminated from diet are Soda and Soft Bread. Everything else is eaten on strict portion control! This has been the best decision I have ever made! I have had no health or complication issues and blood work keeps coming back good. I am starting a home workout routing - Jullian Michaels Body Revolution to tone up. I have the occasional times that I eat too fast or dont chew enough and I get stuck but I have managed that pretty well by now. So for now, I am very happy and hope to reach my goal weight very soon and get back into shape!

Great Story!!!! Good for you. I was banded 7/30 and I am doing great. Best thing I ever did for myself.

I don't exercise enough either. I think next week I am joining a gym. Just going will be the trick.

Good luck and thanks for hope.

I have not had the surgery yet, but I am doing Curves right now. It's great. It works your whole body and it only takes 30 minutes a day. Right now I'm going 3x a week. They also offer Zumba 2 times a week. Good luck!

That is awesome!!! It is always great to hear from people that have had the band for an extended period of time. Congrats on your success!! You must be in the Chicago area w/ Dr. Rantis. He did my mom's bypass. Thanks for sharing your story.

Thanks for this post. We are told over and over that this is a slow process. It's nice to see that you can continue to lose after the 1st year. A "friend" told me that I wouldn't lose any more after the 1st year. I want to keep going until I reach goal.

I am sooooo happy to read your story. I have been feeling very depressed because I hit 1.5 years since my surgery. Dr. Rantis did my procedure as well. I lost 90 pounds my first year, and have stayed the same since. I have been a little disappointed because I have not lost, but the good thing is I have not gained and that is amazing for me with my history. I was also told that after you hit 2 years you will not lose any more. That is when I got really scared. It will be 2 years for me this coming February and am a little frightened. I still have about 40 pounds I want to lose. My question to you is??? Did u feel after a certain amount of time, you just were not as strict??? I think that is what has happened to me and I just am not losing. I am soooo scared to lose the motivation. I hear of people that re gain and I WILL NOT let that happen to me.

Glad to hear your story. Reading some of these posts have been good for me and I need to stay on this site.

Thanks for listening,

Cid

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️
