Ok I know I have googled this...and ppl encounter this however I don't understand why sometimes I eat something and all is good....then I eat the exact same thing and I can't swallow all I get is this foamy Phlegm. It is especially disturbing when I am out....I just need to know that I am not alone....

I went to my surgeons to get a fill yesterday and told the nurse and she didn't know what I was talking about...it isn't throwing up...I just eat and all of a sudden nothing will go down cause my throat is full of Phlegm.

Please tell me I am not alone....and I am normal...I had my surgery on July 9th and I am down 44 lbs....I am not watching what I eat just the amount as my clinic wants me to think of it as a life style change not a diet....and they encourage full fat foods...

Help me feel like I am normal

Hello. Sorry to hear that you are having that experience. Sounds very unpleasant! I do not have any words of wisdom as I am only two weeks post op and haven't experienced that, but I was surprised about your clinic encouraging full fat foods. I've never hear that before, and can't help but think it could be related to what you are eating? My clinic also refers to it as a lifestyle change and not a diet, yet they explain that eating healthy and making good choices isn't dieting, it is just eating wisely for your health. I know different doctors have different perspectives sometimes, but I have honestly never heard of lap band patients being encouraged to eat full fat foods. I wish someone else would reply incase I am missing something! I would speak to the doctor directly if the nurse did not have any answers. Good luck!

I know exactly what you are talking about, it happened to me last night. VERY UNPLEASANT!! For me, I think I had food stuck from not chewing enough. I had just gotten a fill yesterday and was not yet used to the smaller amounts I have to eat & I used to be able to swallow larger bites of food because I had much less restriction. Try chewing more.
