Question

Ok So I just read thorugh some blogs and it seems as though everybody was put on a special diet at least a week before, I wasnt!

Is this going to effect anything??? My doctor did tell me to loose some weight but he only told me to loose 4 lbs! My surgery is tomorrow at 1:00p.m.and of course nothing to eat or drink after midnight but is there anything I should do between now and then.

I wasn't put on any specific diet either. In fact, I wasn't told to lose any weight either - but told not to GAIN weight. I went to Outback the nite before surgery for my "last supper". Yummy ribs. 4 weeks of liquids after my surgery were long enuf on liquids, thank you very much. Not everyone is on a pre op diet.

I wasn't put on a special diet either! I was happy about that lol, I wasn't looking forward to what everyone else was having to do. Now that I'm at my goal I can tell you not to worry about it.. it didn't make a bit of difference for my journey! :)

it all depends on the doctor..... so don't require the diet.... some do.

my understanding is it is to help shrink the liver and make it more pliable.... The part of the stomach that is banded is right behind the liver. So they have to kind of move it around to get to the stomach.

Good luck....

The program I'm with has two phases of diet plans. I'm in the first one now (the "Bariatric Surgery Diet) where I'm eating only from 4 food groups - protein, dairy, fruit, and veggies. I'm practicing all of the skills of being banded - eating slowling, chewing 26 times, no liquids with meals. I eat 3 meals a day and 2 protein drinks as snacks. The next phase will be the "Pre-Op" which is 2-4 weeks of skim milk for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They said their main goal with the first phase is to make sure I can change my eating behaviors and they should see some weight loss. If I don't follow it I'm not a candidate for surgery.
