Bad Food Choices

I am 3 weeks post op and I am told by my dietitian not to diet yet but stay on mushy/ pureed foods.

In doing that I am gravitating to not so good food choices like pudding, mashed potatoes and cereals.

I'm afraid my mindset wont change. I am not satisfied and feel like eating and am eating more than just those three meals.

Not sure what I should do. I haven't gained but hasn't moved either.

Just getting over TOM's visit so I'm not sure if that has part to do with it cause it started around

the time I got the curse

:(

Wondering what others do during this stage?

My first fill is scheduled June 15th.

I concur Miss Mary!

I started my mushies a couple of days early and I find that I've been craving the creamier soups like, clam chowder, cream of potato, broccoli and cheese, I've even made some really creamy, soft guacamole. I think I've just wanted something hearty, something that truly felt like I ate something. And since most of my swelling has gone down, I find myself becoming hungrier between my meals!

Like you, the scale really isn't moving for me either, and I actually go to the gym and burn lots of calories...I guess discouragement is starting to set in a little.

My first fill is scheduled for the 14th...

Once you start getting fills, things will change. Stay away from creamy soups all together! I found that anything with cream or cheese in it really hurt my tummy after I started getting fills. If you are dying for clam chowder, try Progresso's light clam chowder. Absolutley delicious and 100 cals per serving! Good luck!

Ive been banded 9 months now and even though my band is almost totally filled...Im still able to eat what I want - slowly. I also work out very hard 5 days a week. I only lose about 1 lb a week - if that. My total weight loss is only 30 lbs. My doc said that it is only beneficial to stay on mushies for 10 days, after that its important to move forward to a regular diet. I didnt really feel restriction until I was about 4 cc's. It takes months to get there, so be patient. I would encourage you to eat balanced, healthy meals at this point. You will feel full longer. Mushies are just sliding right through and you will feel hungry. Make sure to get 100 grams of protein, even if they come from liquids.
