Soda, "Chips" and Cake and still losing weight....

I've had the strangest cravings for potato chips and soda lately. This was never anything I craved pre-surgery and yet here I am just shy of 14 months post op and I am CRAVING them.. I of course, know this isn't something I should be eating.. but recently on a trip to Kona Grill they had taro chips. I'd tried these once before but didn't really remember them but now I'm HOOKED. It's just like a potato chip you can season it and do all kinds of flavors with it but it's great just plain with sea salt... Then last night thinking I was grabbing Taro chips I grabbed Terra chips - Exotic Vegetable Chips... this is a packaged blend of Taro, Yuca, Sweet Potato, Ruby Root, Batata and Parsnip chips...SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good and works on that whole "sweet/salty" thing.

But eating this makes me want soda.. diet soda but still soda, which I rarely drank prior to surgery and the few times I've tried it post surgery has been hard... but I've figured out if I pour it over ice and let it sit, it's drinkable and don't hurt to drink...

And then... then there's the cake... some of you make have seen my blog about the recipe or the RED CARPET READY 150 calorie cake.. which is SO good, but I wanted real cake, with frosting so I decided to make one myself.. I made a yellow cake from scratch using mayo and applesauce, sounds gross but it was DELICIOUS and I made a cream cheese frosting to put over it... I'd eaten nothing but cake and beef jerky for 3 days and still lost 3lbs... how is this possible?!?!?

I mean not that I was wanting to gain weight, obviously not, but with results like that.. it makes it hard to not want to go on a cake diet lol...

At any rate, my food choices obviously need to improve, but I think I'm making up for being on that fast or 30 days lol... but I'm still losing so I'm happy!.

I've had that happen too where I'll eat like ice cream or something and lose weight. Tricking up your metabolism with a calorie boost actually does work in small doses!

I lost 4 pounds the week of Christmas eating cakes and pies! I was surprised as well! I agree with PJ my body probably appreciated the boost in calories for that short time period! LOL! At least that's what I want to believe.

I'm going to stick with that... and di know you need to trick up your body, which actually was my purpose with the cake... but the rest of it.... not sure where that's coming from.

OK... so I hate all of you who can eat pies and cakes. ;) Im kidding of course. Just envious. I eat pretty much what I want ( or at least what will go down) but very small portion. I have only been banded 5 months now but Ive also only lost 20lbs. I burn about 700 cals a day with my workout. I refuse to deprive myself of the foods I want. If I want something sweet I will eat it. Just a few bites. Whats the big deal? Im happy for you folks who are losing weight much faster than I am. Good for you!

That happened to me this weekend. I went someone's house and did not eat before I left home. I had tortilla chips, potatoe chips, some baked frozen snacks, a few chicken wings. On Monday when I weighed myself, I lost 4 lbs. I could not believe it. But I got back on track this week. I have lost 60 lbs in 4 months. Let's all keep up the good work and stay strong.

Kelly don't be discouraged at 5 months out I had only lost 15lbs...well I lost and gained and my total was 15lbs, my first 3 months I dropped weight super fast, then I gained muscle from working out, it was SO discouraging to me.. but I've learned to go off of my clothing size and not the scale, I have a very solid/thick/muscular frame.. people looking at me would NEVER believe I weigh what I weigh, but muscle weighs more than fat. Just remember it's a journey you're on it's going to take some time, and on the upside.. the slower you lose it, the tighter your skin stays ;)

I agree totally with muscle weighing more than fat. The more I work out my clothing sizes drop like crazy but the scales don't always go down as fast as I think it should. However, I measure my success from the sizes and inches lost. Always remember every single person is totally different and the way we lose isn't the same. I am six months out and I've only lost 56 pounds as of yesterday. However, this has been the smallest I have been in years. I thank God for every inch-pound he's enabled me to loose! I just think back 6 months ago I weighed 325 and today I am 269. Hey that is one victory I am glad to celebrate.
