Feeling frustrated

I was banded November 5, 2010. I only lost 2 pounds after surgery, after my second fill. I lost most of the weight which was 16 pounds on the liquid diet BEFORE surgery. I am eating the correct food and not a lot of it. I am getting frustrated and think this isn't going to work for me. I am so tired of being good and not getting any results. I have even started exercising and I am still not getting anywhere. I just want to cry because I am doing all of the right things. It has been 2-1/2 months since surgery and only lost 2 pounds. Why wouldn't I want to give up especially when I see a lot of others that have lost 50 or more pounds. I want a damn donut and I dont even like them. I dont like cakes, cookies or icecream. I LOVE veggies and fruit. Why the hell am I not losing!!!!

Thanks! I want this to work so much! I have so many health issues, which was the main reason for this surgery. It really is discouraging and I feel so lonely and lost. Thanks for your kind words.

I can see your getting discouraged as I would to. Have you talked this over with your Dr.? I'm only 13 days out have been bounding back and forth my self. I read were other have loss large amounts of weight but you have to realize some others may have alot more to loose that others. My husband was banded on the 11th along with me and he has he down 30 lbs in 2 weeks were I'm only about 7lbs, but he is 100lbs more than me. I've read so much about protein, protein and more protein being the key and being a newbie I'm not sure but I'm going to try to add more protein to my food intake. I wish you well as all us bandsters do. I think the lapband is a tool but not a quick fix and hopefully we will look back in a year at our blogs and laugh at our frustation when we too are down 50 to 100lbs.

It took me about 4 fills before I really felt restriction. I did lose but I had more to lose than you and from the very beginning my band helped me by keeping me from eating between meals. Hang in there, the bandster hell period between surgery and restriction is usually at least 4 fills and is rightly named. Eat mostly protein, cut back on the fruit and veg and try to not drink any calories. It really works best with hard protein and fruits and veg, just slide through.

Ok, I'll try this again. I seem to type and then delete! Anyway, I was saying it usually takes about 4 fills to really feel the full effect and restriction. I did lose more in the first couple months but I had more to lose than you do. Bandster Hell is between surgery and restriction and is rightly named. From the very beginning my band helped me by keeping me from eating between meals and that has been the most valuable part of it for me. Stick with the protein, dont drink any calories if you can help it and cut back on the fruits and veg - they just slide through. Ask to get fills sooner if possible, some docs will some won't. It's the fills that will get you going. Don't give up - it will happen!

VEGGIES AND FRUIT ARE GREAT BUT I BET YOU ARE NOT GETTING ENOUGH PROTEIN.....here is what my doctors nutritionist has said..... if you don't get enough protien in each day you won't lose the weight.... I am 5'4" and there calculation for me is between 65-82 grams a day.... when you eat always eat the protein( up to 4 oz ) first and then add the other items. DO NOT drink any fluids during your meal.... this flushes whatever food you ate right through.... they are having us wait an hour before we can drink. If you cannot eat enough in a day to get the right amnt. of protein then you need to drink a protein shake to make up the deficit. It is very important to keep a food log so you can see what kinds of food/ protein you are eating. Don't give up its just taking your body more time to adjust to the change.
