OK...I am day 5 with the lap band. I miss my coffee soooo much. I am use to drinking 2 cups every morning. I realize that I can't drink it now, but I just want to know if there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Will I be able to drink real coffee again? :)

Hi Kathy, I gave it up for awhile too, now I drink a cup or two a week, not a whole cup about a half, I just lost the desire for a lot of it. I drink it Black now too! Soda's I may have one every now and then, not crazy for them like I use to be either. Just bare with this and in a few weeks, you will want other things. I drank some Hot tea too. It was just wanting that Hot drink in the AM for me. This is a life walk, and we learn to MODIFY our behaviors a little at the time. God Bless and best wishes.

Yes I drink my coffee still, and I drink it Black. I get up at 4 am and make coffee and have at least two cups prior to having my breakfast-shake and vitamin at 6:30. I also drink coffee at work maybe two cups the whole day. I do however eat my meals at 4.5 or 5 hours apart. Tuna and crackers for lunch or chili beans, or mac and cheese. From lunch to dinner I drink water, 4 cups. Then it's dinner time, tuna salad sandwhich. I manage to drink water for a few hours and may have a sugarless popsicle. Most bandster's tailor their eating habits to their own life style. I love my coffee and my doc says it's ok. There is nothing like that first one or two cups of coffee in the early morn, sitting outside with my 4 dogs on the steps or my rooftop-this is my quality time I set aside for myself everyday. Best wishes on your journey.

Just be ready for a major caffeine buzz when you have your first cup! I had just finished an iced coffee 2 weeks after my band and 4 weeks after not caffeine. My mind was racing, I was elated, soooooooo happy! Then i realized it was the caffeine! I still chuckle when I think of how it hit me!

My doctor said no caffeine or carbonated drinks, so my husband, who does most of the cooking, slowly weened me from caffeinated to decaf. I love my coffee. I drink about 4-5 cups perked Decaf Maxwell House and if I want a quick cup without putting on a pot, I have Taster's Choice Decaf. I use some liquid Coffee Mate and I still love it. I have about a half a cup right after my morning shower, while I put on make-up and take my meds and vitamins. Then about 20 minutes later, I have my breakfast. I take a thermos to the office and then I might have a cup or 2 afer dinner.

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.

      Einarmige Banditen
