I am in the same place I am a teacher too. My school year starts Aug 9 and my surgery is Aug 27. As of today I still don't know what grade I am teaching and what classroom I have. My surgeon's office knew when I will be on break but they scheduled appts when I was ready not when I will be on vacation.

I have to look it at it this way my health is important to perform my job to the best of my ability.

So how many days do you plan to take off from work? How many sick days does your school you? We get a limited number so I'm extremely hesitant to use them at the beginning of the year.

In a couple days you should feel much better after being banded. You still will have to take it easy for about a week or two no lifting bending maybe.

I agree you first and your health thats what personal and sick time is for. I took a week of of work to have my galbladder out before being banded and i to have summers off but i didnt want tp be laid up all summer so i used some of my time at school to. Best of luck on your journey and put yourself first for a little while.

Well since they scheduled it for a Friday..I would take off Monday. That way you are taking only 2 days off. As long as you are not lifting anything and you are able to sit down often. You will be tired but you need to walk as well...so I am picturing you walking around the classroom but resting at your desk. I had mine on a Monday and on Thursday I had 40 people at my house for Thanksgiving dinner...only 3 people there even knew I had surgery (my mom & dad and my husband) no one even had a clue. I wish you the very best and sorry they couldn't of done it August 1st or something!!! Remember everything always happens for reason!! You will be fine!!
