Surgery went well. :smile2: I didn't expect that the pain of the gas leaving my body would be so bad. Because of my insurance I had to stay in the hospital. At first I wasn't happy about it but now I am glad that it happened. The nursing staff was wonderful and very supportive. I can't believe how many people have had the procedure. Even the surgical nurse had done this, and she looks great. Many of the staff here have had the procedure done. Everyone had great success stories. Besides I think I got pampered a little more here than I would have at home. I got pain medicine through my IV which I think is better than having to take pills. I am both scared and excited. RIght now I don't feel like eating. I am sure that will change.

Oh be kind to yourself and rest. You do heal from the inside out. Congrats and welcome I was banded June 29 2009 and it is little over a year and I have done very well. Follow the rules but you know that. Enjoy your journey as much as I have. Best wishes imaluckydog

Awesome! I had mine band ten days ago. I had alot of pain the first week and was so happy to spend the evening in the hospital. When the nurse handed me the oral pain medication...I handed it back and asked for the IV medication. It was just easier and helped me rest. I am doing great now and hope your recovery goes well. I like imaluckydog's quote....you are healing from the inside out. She is so right! Good luck with your journey. I look forward to hearing about your journey.

Thanks sw, for posting your entry. I'm scheduled for next Thursday and I just keep reading and trying to be prepared. I liked luckone's comment about giving back the oral pain medication .. . I'll keep that in mind. Good luck all!

It has been four days since my surgery. I am still feeling pain in my left shoulder and back. I guess it is the gas that they put into you. Today it finally feels like I can live with it and as my mother says this to shall pass. There is no way I can eat or rather drink as much as they put on my sheet. So I make sure that I get my protien and vitamins in so I don't lose my hair. Putting on a heating pad on my shoulder really helps the pain there. I have been cooking for my family and I thought it would be hard but so far not so. Sleeping also seems to help me feel better. I have to be ready to go back to work on Friday. Even though I only have a desk job I need to be there to get things done. I am hoping that the pain is a lot less by then. Also I expected the scale to show a lot more weight loss than it does. I have to remember that this all takes time.
