Help! Day 10 of pre-op diet and only 4 lbs. down!

I am on day 10 of my liquid only pre-op diet and have only lost 4 lbs! How is that possible?? I am so starving! I am drinking 5-6 protein shakes a day, and 1-2 other liquids (broth, sf pudding). Why haven't I lost more? My surgery is set for July 15th, so I'm on this until then. I am worried that the doc. will postpone the surgery since I haven't lost that much. What's going on? Any ideas or suggestions are for sure welcome

I only lost 6 pounds on the pre-op liquid diet. My nurse said, well, everyone's metabolism is different, so not to worry. As long as you have lost and not gained, you're ok. Don't worry too much about it!

Thank you maggs! I have been so stressed over it. I guess my body doesn't want to let go of any of it!!!

Maggs is right I lost around 10 maybe 15 and a few days before my surgery I put on a few pounds. My doctor still did my surgery with no problems. I think you will be fine so don't stress about it.

I feel lots better now, knowing this is pretty normal. I just keep thinking with all this torture, surely I would lose a WHOLE lot more! haha. Soon enough I guess. I just can't wait to get banded. Been waiting forever. Thanks for the info :0)

I too lost only 6 lbs. Now I am in a stall mode. My surgery was 06/15 and I am getting a fill because I feel no restriction or fullness.

If it hadent been for the great people sharing info on this site I might not have known I need a fill and it is not normal to not feel full at some point!

Special thanks to Tina and Maggs they are great bloggers!!!

i didnt even have to diet the weeks before surgery. just liquids the day before. drinks/shakes/broth still hv a lot of hidden calories...so if you're are really concerned, total up your calories for a few days and see what numbers you get...you might be 'dinking too many calories' to still lose weight.... just a thought...try not to stress! you'll be fine :-)

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️

      Einarmige Banditen
