I am adding fruit to my shakes for a diffrent taste is that OK? Also, I am going to eat with friends to night I am thinking about having fish salad and light dressing. My docotor says I can have a lean dinner and do the shakes for breakfast and lunch does that sound right?

Thats what I did and my liver was just fine!I had shakes 2 x a day and salad and a lean meat for dinner! I had to go to a luncheon one day too so I just ate the meat inside one of the wraps!

That is what my diet consisted of. I added frozen blackberries or strawberries to my shakes. My doc okayed that. But I had to make sure they were sugar free. I even added a spoon of peanut butter to my shake every now and then when I got bored with it. I lost 21 pounds (18 by their scale) in two weeks on my pre-op.

Good luck:D

i buy the store brand frozen fruit from Target (peaches, mangos, pineapple....the "berrries" had tiny pits in them when juiced and that annoyed me). The bags of fruit from Target are 100% fruit-no sauce, sugar, etc.... I add some fruit to my shakes along w/4 ice cubes and 1 pack of Splenda (0 calories) every morning for breakfast....it makes my shakes nice and fluffy and very filling! other mornings, I might add 1/2 banana or a spoon of peanutbutter (w/the chcolate shakes)..... of course, check w/your Doc first, but these shakes are filling, healthy and high in protein for me!

My surgeon doesn't recommend any cirtris type fruit but I'm gonna try the fruit you suggested from Target. Thanks for the info J_BandRanger

What you need to watch about the fruit is that it is all carbs..no protein (maybe 1 gram if that). I just checked the bag in my freezer..1 serving is 17 carbs, 1 gram of protein. My doctor went bizerk when I asked him about a "fruit smoothie" and keep in mind I have lost 96 lbs in 7 months. By the end of the appt he said that I obviously understand my body and my "diet" that if I want one here and there it would be ok but he wouldn't recommend it to anyone newly banded. Fruit should be for someone who understood how to deal with carbs or someone who has met thier goal weight (which I still have 30 lbs to go). I haven't made a smoothie yet but I do eat grapes... This is just me and my doctors two cents.. I believe the reasoning about the citrus posting by jmunks is because of how stingy it is and it could possibly get stuck.
