scanning the room....

Come on, I know you do it......I think we all do....

You walk into a room (any room) and you scan, non-chalantly of course, to see if you really are the biggest person in the room. Or you see a photo of yourself, and you scrutinize everyone in the photo to see how you "measure" up.....

well, have you done this since you had your surgery? Are you still hiding behind objects thinking that you look smaller, or are you really smaller? Are you no longer the biggest person in the picture?

I go to Florida every year with with the same group of people - and yes, I have always been the biggest of the bunch, that is, until this year. 6 months after surgery, I am no longer the big girl, I am more in the middle of the pack....and what a strange feeling! I still find myself migrating to the back of group photos, or positioning myself behind objects, however, there were some out in the open photos, and I could really see the difference.

It is strange tho....I still walk into rooms and scan....

I do scan the room, and the hallway in the mall, and stores and restaurants. I feel so much better and when I see people who are as heavy as I was I want to go up to them and tell them there is hope, and there is a way to finally lose the weight. I don't of course. Now I actually want to see myself in pictures because that is the only way I truly can see a difference in myself. I'm still struggling with the body image and, of course, have a ways to go yet, but when you see yourself in a picture you can really "see" yourself!

This is SO true! I find that since surgery, I walk in a room less self conscious.... I feel really good about myself and I am only 3 months (as of May 4th) post op. I still weigh 298.5 lbs but it feels so much different from the 339! I have a long way to go, but I feel like I look really good! Good Luck!

i still am the biggest..but it is ok. I know i am doing something about it and that I have a goal to reach. My weightloss has been slow...very slow.

i am the photographer in the family so i am almost never in the pics. I dont think that will change cuz i love taking pics of a moment in time i want to remember. my daughter does take the camera from me and takes pic of me...its usually blurry and gets deleted.

in time i will feel more comfortable walking into a room

good luck

I did that last night at the party I went to. LOL

I was not by any means the largest person there. In the past I was always the largest person. I felt so normal sized and I knew I looked great, because I felt great. My new size 12 black dress was so comfortable and I did not feel poured into it like all the other black dresses I used to wear.

I ate a normal size portion of food and as everyone was going up for seconds I was still noshing on what I had taken. Such a good feeling to be in control. I just love my band and this is so cool being able to look around and feel good for once in my life.

Best wises to all. imaluckydog

I do it too. Lately though I am feeling more normal as far as size. I have reached 216 and this past week have taken inventory. Looked over old pics and videos. Sometimes I am the biggest sometimes not. It's the not times that I try to focus on. It's a good feeling.

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.

      Einarmige Banditen
