60 Pounds Gone!

Just thought I would post in the blog. Haven't posted in a while. Today I weighed and I am down 60 pounds! Very pleased considering I had failed at every diet out there. I will say the band is not an easy way out, it definitely requires a mindset change and lots of committment. I will say though that having support from family is the best thing ever too. However, I don't think I have support from my dad. He's never really been around and when I do talk to him on the phone it was always a lecture about my weight. Well I talked to him the other night and he says to me..."you havent given up have you??...I'm like on what? And he says to me "on losing weight". He says he hasn't seen a picture of me for a couple of weeks and so he was checking to see if I have given up. Are you serious? A couple weeks he hasn't seen a picture of me and he thinks that??? Needless to say I was a little crushed by his comment. I wanted to scream to the heavens...I have lost almost 60 pounds in 3 and half months for goodness sake! Some people are never happy I guess! Well enough about him even though it did take me a few days to get over his comment because then I would just look at myself and begin the doubting part. But today I am better, the scales moved again downward of course and I couldn't be happier. This journey so far has been incredible and I don't regret the band one bit. Well, that's enough rattling on for me for now. Hope everyone has a great day and good luck to all of you as well!

2 Weeks Post-op

Well, it's been a while since I last wrote on here. Just been trying to concentrate on eating right, getting in my protein, protein, protein! I have found the only protein shake I can tolerate is the Muscle Milk light in chocolate. Only 100 calories, 5g of carbs, and 15g of protein. I will admit since I am into the mushy/soft stage that I have been worried about eating "food" again and not losing weight anymore. Then I have to slap myself back to reality and realize what I am eating now is in no way comparable to what I was literally shoveling in my mouth a month ago. I have been able to measure my food and feel satisfied with hardly anything to eat and it's unbelievable to me how I ate before surgery. I mean I literally just shoveled food in my mouth and would never be satisifed. Now don't get me wrong there have been a few days I have said to myself "what have I done?!" It's only been two weeks and some days I can see that I have lost weight and inches and then I put on something else another day and I see the same old fat ass in the mirror and I am so pissed off. (excuse my language). But I think all this is normal??? I hope so anyway. I have been so used to seeing myself in a bad way....overweight and fat. I just have to take a deep breath and tell myself the weight didn't come on overnight, it's not gonna go away overnight. I have to trust the scales, not the mirror. Anyway, other than all that I am feeling great! I am walking, and riding a bike, and swimming! How exciting! I am down 32 pounds and you would not believe the world of difference it has already made in my knees and my back. I can actually walk without pain. Love, love, love that! Well I guess that's about it for now. I will check back with you all again soon. Meanwhile, I'm happy in bandland! Have a great day!

Day 1 After Lap Band

First day after surgery and I'm sore. I have sneezed today and boy does that hurt too. I have been up walking around the house but thats about it. Just up and down today. Fluids have been well today. Been keeping track of my intake and output. Breakfast: 2 ounces Nectar Protein Shake 2 ounces Gelatin Drink. Then every 20 minutes eating some ice chips. Lunch: 2 ounces of Broth 2 ounces Propel Zero. More ice chips between. Dinner: 2 ounces protein drink 2 ounces Broth. More ice chips. Able to keep it all down. No nausea today. I have been voiding well too so I must be getting enough fluids. Day 2 tomorrow will probably be about the same. Going to try and include some sugar free popsicles tomorrow to change it up a bit. I got on the chat in here earlier and it was very informative. Looks like Im doing what I should be. Hoping tomorrow will be a less sore day for me. Have a great night!

Omg! What Is That???

Laying in bed this morning and my arm hits something on my leg...I think to myself...what the hell? Turns out I have a hip and leg bone that has been hiding in my thigh for at least 3 decades. Needless to say it's pretty cool to find all these bones that have always been there but have been hiding...collar bones, shoulder bones, now hip bones...oh and I am even seeing ankles too, real ankles and not cankles. Just thought I would post this in my blog today. Feels good.

5 Days Post-op

Well day 5 is almost over. Rode in the car today for the first time since surgery. I am still pretty tender in the area where I believe my port is. Hopefully this is normal. Some bumps and turns were a little painful. Walked around the mall some. Now Im home resting after having my dinner. 1/2 cup of blended chicken soup and 2 tsp of creamed potatoes. So full dont even want to think about food. My follow up appointment isnt until the 27th and I have scales here at home but not sure if I trust them or not. Dont want to get my hopes up! All in all I feel better, my knees arent aching. Just wish the pain in my left side would disappear! Its more annoying than anything. and I think from trying to baby that side it has made my back hurt on the right side. I think thats it anyway. Got two 8 ounce protein shakes down today. Felt good about that. Hopefully Im on the right track. Time will tell!

6 Month Bandiversary!

Today it has been 6 months since my surgery.I have lost 68 pounds so far and feeling great! I just finished 3 miles on the treadmill all at one time. 6 months ago I couldn't even think about 5 minutes on the treadmill. What a change! I am happy to say I have had zero complications with the band. No stuck episodes, no nausea, no vomiting. Granted I am only at 3.5 cc but I am feeling awesome and just wanted to share. I am so thankful for my band and what it has helped me accomplish so far. Don't regret one minute of it!
