2 Weeks Post-op

Well, it's been a while since I last wrote on here. Just been trying to concentrate on eating right, getting in my protein, protein, protein! I have found the only protein shake I can tolerate is the Muscle Milk light in chocolate. Only 100 calories, 5g of carbs, and 15g of protein. I will admit since I am into the mushy/soft stage that I have been worried about eating "food" again and not losing weight anymore. Then I have to slap myself back to reality and realize what I am eating now is in no way comparable to what I was literally shoveling in my mouth a month ago. I have been able to measure my food and feel satisfied with hardly anything to eat and it's unbelievable to me how I ate before surgery. I mean I literally just shoveled food in my mouth and would never be satisifed. Now don't get me wrong there have been a few days I have said to myself "what have I done?!" It's only been two weeks and some days I can see that I have lost weight and inches and then I put on something else another day and I see the same old fat ass in the mirror and I am so pissed off. (excuse my language). But I think all this is normal??? I hope so anyway. I have been so used to seeing myself in a bad way....overweight and fat. I just have to take a deep breath and tell myself the weight didn't come on overnight, it's not gonna go away overnight. I have to trust the scales, not the mirror. Anyway, other than all that I am feeling great! I am walking, and riding a bike, and swimming! How exciting! I am down 32 pounds and you would not believe the world of difference it has already made in my knees and my back. I can actually walk without pain. Love, love, love that! Well I guess that's about it for now. I will check back with you all again soon. Meanwhile, I'm happy in bandland! Have a great day!

I am about where you are post op (banded 12/5) and feel like I could have written your blog -- feeling all the same things! I am down 27 pounds and so happy with this decision. I have had chronic knee and back pain for so long and to suddenly have longer periods now where I actually don't feel that pain is so incredible. I noticed it most when I was Christmas shopping -- I used to dread shopping because I would be miserable within 20-30 minutes of walking but this past weekend I was out for 4 hours before I felt the need to stop!!!

I have gotten worried as I can eat more now - worried about gaining back or stretching but then I say same thing, I am eating sooooo much less than I used to that it has to keep making a difference. I am worried about being able to stay healthy through the process (and limit the hair loss) and find getting in enough proteins tough. Looking for more high protein but small portion foods.

Well - good luck to you!!

I absolutely loved your blog and how positive you are!! I am newly banded 3 days post op now and some of the comments on here have me concerned. lol Also, I wanted to ask if you best1 or Kath109 have either one tried the UNJURY brand protein??? I have tried several kinds, some so bad I was even gagging( sorry tmi there) But the Unjury brand is so much better. I have been mixing one scoop of their chocolate with a packet of Chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast, That gives you 33 grams of protein, but it does also have 340 calories. But honestly it taste like extra chocolate milk!! This is how I have gotten my protein and survived the liquid preop and I am doing 4oz of this at a time for my post op too. Its also awesome mixed with a low fat sugar free pudding! Hope this helps with your protein and Good Luck to you on your weight loss journey!

I have lost from 388 to 305 since being banded in April of this year, and I can tell you sometimes I look in the mirror and can't see anything but who I used to be. But putting on my old jeans and having them slide all the way up to my underarms confirms that I am changing! Never let yourself get down.
