Week 26...Just 25lbs to Go

Hello Loved Ones!   This week I have had some joys and some tiny pains. I am now down to 190 and have only 25lbs to go! Feeling like a pretty little butterfly.   I have been adding new foods back into my diet slowly. Last week I tried a few bites of rice. OH BOY....THAT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN! I was sick, sick, sick! So I had to go back to liquids for a few days, then pureed for a few days and I was back on track.   I have support group tonight and I can't wait to go. I really love spending time with others who have been through this experience. Today we are all suppose to bring in a recipe then next month we will all get a fun little recipe book to take home for a Christmas present. Good idea! So since I am going to share my recipe for Atkins Chili with my support group I will share it with all of you as well! (see bottom)   This week, I had a hair makeover! I am very happy with how my hair turned out. We layered it, lightened it and straightened it! It's quite the change! New hair for a new me!   I really trip people out now! HA, love it!   One more trip to the Colonic Hydrotherapist! I am telling you people it makes a difference! I feel lighter and I feel more energy. May sound icky but it's worth a try!   You know...I want to thank all of you for being such a wonderful support tool. I have really made some wonderful friends on here and it has made this process one of personal growth. I really do love you all!   So I got all mushy on you, didn't I? Sorry.   Now....off to the store to find cute little items for my Hawaii trip. OH I CAN'T WAIT. (I wish we had a sexy little happy face to use here!)   Blessings!     Atkins Chili Recipe   • 1 Tablespoon olive oil • 1 large chopped onion • 6 large garlic cloves, minced • 2 medium jalapenos, minced • 2 lbs ground sirloin • 2-4 Tablespoons chili powder (adjust according to personal taste) • 1/2 teaspoon salt • pepper to taste • 1 16oz can diced tomatoes (make sure no sugar added) • 2 cups chicken broth (again no sugar added) Atkins Chili Recipe Directions   Heat oil in heavy saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic. Saute about 8 minutes or until onions are translucent. Add ground sirloin and cook until brown, breaking up meat with a spatula as it cooks. Add chili powder, salt, pepper, and jalapenos to the meat and onions. Stir in died tomatoes and chicken broth. Reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 1 and a half hours. Note: Wear gloves to mince the jalapenos. If you want your Atkin's chili a bit spicy, then mince the seeds and membranes with your jalapenos. If you want your chili milder, then remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapenos. Note: Be sure to check that your spices, tomatoes, and broth don't contain added sugar. If they do, you will have to count them as part of your total carbohydrate intake for the day.

Week 25...Early Six Months Checkup Status

Hello Beloveds! Today I went in for my six months check up. My doctor said I am a superstar! I am above average for weight loss and all my bloodwork is right on target. I am healthy and most of all happy!   Today I went to get gas from a station I visit weekly. When I got to the window the lady looked real hard at me and said...you are Laura, Right? I said yes, you know me. She said NO I DID NOT! You look fantastic. For the last couple of weeks it's been cold here so I was wearing one of my older (too big) coats when pumping. Today was warm so she got to see me in regular clothes! I felt fantastic! How wonderful is that progress?   I promised I would report to you how my Colonic went last week. I know it sounds gross but it's really not. After my colonic I felt lighter and less bogged down. What I learned is it is best to have them in 3. So I go in for my 2nd one this Friday and then my last one for the season before thanksgiving. It was worth it for me.   For the first time in YEARS I shopped on the normal side of the clothing store. Need I say more?   I am wearing heels now! I would not touch them when I was 280lbs! Now I can wear them and wear them all day with no issues!   My surgery was May 21st, 2009 and I am proud of myself for using this tool to it's fullest advantage!   I am now 195lbs and have lost 85lbs! My goal 165-170lbs   LOVING LIFE AND MYSELF!

Week 24....Finally in Onederland

Oh JOY JOY JOY! Today you are reading a blog of a woman who is finally under 200lbs! I have lost 3 more pounds for a grand total of 83lbs in less than six months.   I feel so much better! Happier, lighter, THINNER!   This week I took all of my old clothes to consignment! It was about 50 items! I took two full bags to Goodwill and two other bags to a friend who needed some new clothes in my old size! My closet is BARE! OH JOY...guys....no joke, there are tears in my eyes right now. I am so very very blessed!:smile2:   So...since I have lost so much weight, my winter coats are WAY too big, so I purchased a new one this week. It is not a size XXXL, XXL or even a XL....It is a size "L" (see photo)   Yesterday I had to have my blood drawn for my six months check up. So next week I will have a report for you on how all that works out.   Ok...so some of you may cringe at this and some may crack up but I am going to have my first colonic this weekend. I feel like since my body has changed so much I'd like to clean the inside out as well. My sister calls it getting my chitterlings cleaned. (HA!) I have heard good things about having a colonic, in fact I starting thinking about it two years ago but just never acted on it. I'll give a crazy update on that next week too! :frown:   I did have something interestng happen this week. People I work with and see pretty much everyday, looked at me and said...OMG...it looks like you shrank overnight, we can really tell now. It's so strange how the body works sometimes. My collarbones stand out and I have a waist.   Some days I wake up and I can swear I've lost a pound overnight. I always feel it in my hips. My pj's feel loose. Weird but I LOVE IT!   So now that I am getting close to goal, I've finally starting adding pasta, bread and rice SLOWLY back into my diet. And by slowly I mean only one day a week. This week I added bread, so on Sunday I had a slice of pizza for the football game. It was yummy and it did not give me any troubles. I have to say that one piece was about all I could handle and it took me 20 minutes to eat that but I was satisfied. In the older days before my band, I'd taste that pizza and want to eat the whole thing, but not this time ladies and gentleman, I was very satisified!   So my Lapband Family that is my journey for this week. I'll check in soon!

Week 23...First Goal Met!.....80lbs Gone!...

People, people, people.....TODAY IS A FANTASTIC DAY!   Even though it's snowing outside and more bad weather is coming to Denver, I feel like the sun is shining directly on me!   Today when I stepped on the scale the number 200 was looking right at me! :w00t:What is it about that number? When you are going up the scale it's a number of doom and gloom, however when you are coming down on the scale it looks like a gold coin!   I could not have done this without my band. I have not been 200 in over nine years, and when I hit it the last time it was my stale point. I never got below it and then I went right back up. Before that I was not 200 in YEARS!   I have 35lbs to goal. I would like to be 165-170. For the first time in my life I really and truly feel like that goal can be reached. I think I was in High School the last time I weighed that and I am now 39!   We are going to Hawaii for Christmas Vacation and I think this calls for a new bathing suit.   Even with the bumps in the road for the past couple of weeks, I now see a light at the end of the tunnel.   I cleaned out my closets this weekend of everything that did not fit anymore. Check out how my closet looks now, I've attached a photo for you!   HEE HEE! It may not be the best photo but you get the point!   I actually called my husband into the room with me to make him look at the scale! I wanted to make sure I was not dreaming!   Life is good!!!!! I am happy!!!! I am no longer the fat girl with the pretty face! I can't tell you how much I hated hearing that!   I AM BLESSED!:crying:

Week 22 Post-Op....Back in the Saddle

Finally! Yesterday I went back to my doctor for a refill. Two weeks of 4.9cc's is not working for me! I did not go back to 5.9cc's because I felt that was just too tight. I was not able to get in my water daily and I would throw up in my sleep sometimes. So I am at 5.6cc's currently.   Next month is my six months follow up so if I think 5.6cc's is just not enough then I will go to 5.8cc's.   For the past week and a half I have been sick. Terrible head cold which also caused me to lose my voice. I was not able to exercise at all! After getting into a routine after all these months, that made me feel crappy. I actually crave the movements now. That's a good thing....right?   So yesterday and today I was back on liquids. I have to say I am sick of soup. (giggle) I really need to get some more recipes to switch things up.   I did not gain any weight or lose any weight during my two week ordeal so I can't be upset. Lord knows the last thing I needed was a gain! I think I would have took a hammer to my scale if that would have happened. I am just five pounds from 200lbs and I want to reach that before my next doctor appointment, which is the week of Thanksgiving.   All in all it has been a pretty boring week because I was so sick.   I did discover that my band does not like Mahi Mahi much. So I will be staying away from that type of fish. Too dense I guess. One thing for sure....when you band doesn't like something...it will let you know!:huh2:   So ladies and gentleman, here I am....the Incredible Shrinking LaLa....Back in the saddle again!

Week 21 Post-Op....My First Real Bad Week...

Ever since last week when I had to get an unfill due to being stuck, I have been struggling!   What's surprising me is that I have never had a bad week since I was banded. (May 21, 2009)   I went from 5.9cc's to 4.9cc's and I am hungry! I have not been eating the best this week and I have not been able to exercise due to work. I am a Realtor and I have about five buyers looking at homes before the tax credit ends. My days have been non-stop. 6am-9pm most days.   I am trying not to beat myself up but I have been doing so well that this week is freaking me out. I am so close to being under 200. Just six more pounds.   I am afraid to weigh myself! I don't think I will this week. I just can't face that scale saying I stayed the same or I weigh a little more.   I had to sit back and wonder if i am doing myself in. In the past I have gotten down to 200 before and somehow never went any further. I tried to sit and think over why this is, but I never can figure it out.   Maybe I am just thinking too much. I mean I did not mean to get stuck last week. It was not done on purpose and life happens.   I have got to get back on track. I go back for my refill next Wednesday. It just can't come soon enough.   I know I am always upbeat on here but I have to let you all know that sometimes you hit a bump in the road. I guess mine was this week.   I have already started planning my week next week. I have blocked out my time for me. Started to schedule clients around my time and started my weekly food plan. I will not let this get the best of me or set me back!   Ladies...it's also been that time of the month so I am sure my hormones have run amock!   I feel some tears coming on. Why now? Can't I just get closer to goal before these ghosts and issues start coming up.   *Sigh*

Week 20 Post-Op....Setback...Sigh!

This week brought on a new challenge! Had to have 1cc removed from my band. So now I am back to 4.9cc's in my 10cc band. My sweet spot is 5.9cc and I have established that pretty early. I am one of the lucky ones who don't really need too much in my band.   Well...here we go.   On Friday I had a Real Estate seminar I had to attend. It started at 9am and ended at 1pm. They served breakfast and I knew they had some things that were on my approved list. So I grabbed some soft scrambled eggs, a small piece of melon and a small piece of sausage.   There were people who have not seen me in over a year so many were shocked to see me 75lbs lighter. I was quite the buzz, I might say...giggle.   Well, I sat down, started to eat, chewed and chewed and chewed then BAM! I took a small bite of sausage, someone walked up behind me and said...OMG LAURA IS THAT YOU? It startled me and so immediately I swallowed!!!!!!!! HUGE HUGE MISTAKE!   I knew when that bite went down I was doomed. I had not chewed that bite at all.   So as the seminar went on I got sick, sicker then OMG  I was throwing up every 15 minutes...just slime.   After the seminar I called my doctor immediately and they had me come in. At every single stoplight I prayed it would turn red so I could lean my head out the door and toss my cookies! Oh...and the pain...it was horrible and hurt so bad. I was praying, crying, driving and throwing up.   So I walked into the doctors office and they did not wait...I was ushered into a room and they unfilled me immediately. OH WHAT A RELIEF! Thank God!   So now, they want me to to stay at my 4.9cc's until two more weeks because I was throwing up so much I had to have irritated my tummy!   Five more pounds and I will be 200lbs. I can almost taste it, but with the unfill I don't have much restriction. :mad2: I may be able to keep my portions in check but I dread feeling hungry between meals. So I am a bit sad.   I know in the scheme of things this is not a HUGE issue but being so close to onederland/underland is so exciting and I did not want to slow this down.   So right now....liquids for another day then soft foods for three days, then a refill in two weeks. *SIGH*   I have to say....if I had to choose between losing slower and being stuck...well I'd take the losing slower.   Thank GOD that is over. I wish that on nobody!   So there is my crazy story! Until next time.

Week 19 Post Op...New Experiences...Laura Key

I took a mini-vacation this week with my husband. Went to Lake Navajo on the boarder of New Mexico and Colorado. How relaxing it was! I did not exercise this week -- I SLEPT! And with that being said....I still lost a pound. So now I am down 70lbs.   My jeans are loose again and I could not be happier.   I had some time to reflect on my journey and I have to say I am one happy woman. I really think I will be under 200 by the end of the year.   Had a little scare this week. Two nights in a row I threw up in my sleep. Scared the HELL out of me! I almost choked! But I was out of town and had no reception on the cell so I had to kinda sleep upright to get myself back together. I know from another bandster that throwing up in your sleep is not a good thing, so I just tried to relax until I got back into town.   I thought I was stuck but if I was I am not now. While on the road we stopped at a little roadside BBQ place. I got pulled pork but within five minutes it was coming back up! It was the first time I have had that happen. It wasn't bad, just freaky. So hubby ended up having my dinner and I relaxed my tummy! (giggle) I think if something was stuck, it came up because after that I was back to normal.   When I returned I went to the doctor but since I was feeling fine they decided to not do an unfill. So this weekend I reverted to soft foods to let my tummy heal.   My hubby took a lot of footage of our trip and for once in my life, I did not mind being in front of the camera. What a WONDERFUL feeling! Our band photographer wants to take photos just of me because in the past I would not go to the photo shoots. (yes I am a singer)   I am feeling so skinny and sexy! Let's just say I am putting a little pep back in my love life. Ooohh La La!   I am gathering all my clothes that are too big and getting ready for a trip to the consignment store. I gotta finance my new wardrobe somehow!   I am doing it ya'll ..... DOING IT!

Week 18...Alien In My Body...

It's week 18 post-op! Still feeling quite the fine lady!   It's starting to get cold here in Denver and so I picked up a couple of sweaters. It's the first time I have worn a sweater and not felt like a "pig in a blanket".   I had a rough night last night. Did not sleep much at all. I ate a hard boiled egg for breakfast that morning and it all went crazy downhill after that. It did not get stuck or cause me slime, but everything else the rest of the day just felt like it was sitting like a rock in my stomach. And the burping...EWWHHH:scared2:   So last night I tossed and turned and turned and tossed but slept mostly sitting up which is not fun!   This morning I still felt a little off so I skipped breakfast and had soup for lunch. After that I felt fine.   But, here is what cracks me up about myself now. My body makes the weirdest noises through my throat. I can just be sitting there and all of a sudden an alien starts to growl. It's the most weirdest sound. When I go to bed at night it's really noticeable. Double Double Boil and trouble! Anybody else get this?   It's not something I can't deal with but it sometimes happens when I really don't need it to, like a quiet meeting or a romantic moment with hubby! :crying:   I have not weighed yet. I think I am going to wait until Oct. 3rd. After all that body weirdness I think I just want to wait.   My jeans are starting to feel loose again. I am wearing some 16's now. And might I digress a bit....why don't the clothing makers make a standard size? I have Levi's in 18, Just My Size in 16, Cato's in 14 and Lane Bryant across the board with that new single size and color method! Really people..I am not a twister board..Get it together!   I am looking forward to my Hawaii trip in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Can't wait for my family who has not seen me to see me. It will be a great "Ta-Da" moment!   I am still exercising, still belly dancing, water aerobicing (is that a word?) and doing weights. I am getting stronger each week.   So there you have it family....my weekly progress!

17 Weeks Post Op...Progress

Hi Family!   Today is my 17 week post-op date.   As I sit and reflect on my progress I can't help but to be grateful. As I see the numbers go down on the scale, I know it will be the last time I see those numbers as long as I continue to do what I need to do. Eat right, exercise, take care of myself.   I always heard people say...the band is a tool. Now I can really and truly say I understand that. It is not a miracle worker, an overnight fixer, a cure-all.   You MUST....can't stress that enough....YOU MUST be ready for this in the head. If you are not you are setting yourself up for a huge disappointment.   I was ready....I do my work...I am within reach of my goal.   I have to share some things in case someone else has these issues. For the first time in my life, I had some strange things go on with my period. My last period was for 10 days and then within 12 days I had another period. I went to my doctor and they don't think it's serious but blood work was performed to be sure. Losing weight so fast can cause other things to go out of whack. I just want to share this with you because it's important to know your body will be a little confused with itself sometimes. (sorry fella's guess you did not really need to hear that but my ladies did)   We are amazing and wonderful creatures. The body is fabulous and can bounce back from anything, just take care of it because you only have one.   Also, the mood adjustment has been CRAZY! :tongue_smilie: One minute I will be on cloud nine, then something simple will just tick me off to no end. I'll stay mad for a little bit then I am back to being happy. There have been many "blah" days while on this journey. Sometimes I just don't know how to feel, then I am fine. Sometimes little things urk me, but I am over it in a heartbeat. Strange....yes I know....but you have to remember my body is changing and changing fast. All this weight loss has to effect me somehow.   But overall...I am so happy I did this for myself. I wish I would have considered it earlier but maybe I was not ready for it earlier.   So I embrace it, learn from it and work my band like the wonderful tool it is.   I did not weigh this week. I don't weigh all the time. I do not choose to be a slave to that scale anymore. As long as I feel good, and my clothes are getting loose I am fine. I try to at least weigh once every two weeks just to make sure I am still on the journey line.   So that's it for today folks. I just have to advise you to love yourself and enjoy the journey.   It did not take just one night to become overweight and it will not take one night to lose it all. Be patient and loving to yourself and you will be within reach of your goal soon!

16 Weeks Post-Op...Loving Life...Need to go shopping!

I have tried on EVERYTHING in my closet. I have a wonderful dilemma....NOTHING FITS! All my dresses hang funny, my jeans are baggy and my shirts are falling off the shoulders! I have had to buy new underwear and bras to boot. Right now they just have to make due because I am not buying many clothes only to wear them for a few weeks then get more. The thrift shops are good and I have been hitting those up and I have a friend who is size 16 that has given me a lot of things to tide me over. I am taking all the TOO BIG stuff to the consignment shop so I can finance my new wardrobe! I have dropped another five pounds for a grand total of 65 pounds in 16 weeks! I added weights to my exercise routine this week and I am sure my body will sculpt up pretty nicely as long as I keep it up. But who wants to turn back now! By Christmas I could be in UNDERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Life is good. I am at my sweet spot and everyday I have people seeing what wonderful results I have accomplished. Yes...I ACCOMPLISHED....don't let anyone tell you this is the easy way out. It is NOT. I do what I am suppose to...eat right and exercise. I just have a tool that assists me in the process. Easy way out my foot!!!!!!! I have a very supportive sister who I adore. I am almost at her weight and I think it's freaked her out a bit. She's not the jealous type but in about four more pounds I am going to be her weight and I think that makes her a little sad. You see...I was ALWAYS the heaviest sister. I can hear it in her voice but she still is so supportive, loving and kind. It was just sad to hear that little twinge in her voice when I told her I am down to 215. I feel good...I feel like shouting it from the roofs. There is a little pep to my step and a sway in the hips. This caterpillar is developing her wings and will be breaking out of her cocoon soon! I am BLESSED ya'll..... BLESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Amazing Body....14 Weeks Post Op....Laura Key

How amazing is this new body of mine? I lost an additional 5 pounds this past week. I am moving like never before, enjoying my new body and the new clothes that come with it!   I am sleeping better, walking better, and breathing better!   I currently have 5.9cc's in my band. I am at my sweet spot! I just can't say it enough.....I am one happy lady.   I have to say the emotional part has been a journey as well. Some days I feel invincible, others a bit scared. As I am shedding these pounds other things come up that I have to tackle. But I am taking it one day at a time and that's fine by me.   I seem to have the most trouble with breakfast. I tend to be tight in the mornings. It was suggested to drink some warm tea 30 minutes before breakfast. I do that sometimes, other times I just eat what I can then move forward.   I am starting to wonder if I will have a lot of loose skin. I seem to be dropping so fast. I exercise five days a week but I really need to add weights. I just hate that part. I could do cardio all day. I do like my Wii Fit so I am trying to include that in my workouts at least twice a week to start. Boy were my thighs sore that first workout! Whew! As far as I am concerned that Wii was a good investment toward my health. (wonder if you could write that off toward health expenses!)   All in all, I am still happy and wish I would have done this sooner!

Refilled...Laura Key

Today I went in for a refill. Last week we took out the .5 we put in for my 2nd fill. The nurse thinks I was stuck and not overfilled. So to calm my nerves, we put back in .4 instead of .5 (HA!) Yes that's funny! Just one point of a cc but hey if you felt was I felt....you would be leary too!   I have been finding out more and more things about my new body recently. It's a happy feeling but quite the adjustment.   I got whistled at a week ago and did not know what to think! I just froze and thought....was that for me?   I also have bouts of sadness. Not really sure why. Sometimes I get sad when I am bored because that is when I'd snack. I don't have cravings or the the urge to snack so there is a little emptiness there. Funny....never knew that about myself.   I wore heels twice this week and was amazed at how good they made me feel. They don't really hurt my feet right now so I was enjoying the fact that I could celebrate being a girl with the beautiful new shoes I rewarded myself with.   I have not lost any weight this week. Not a big issue for me. Hormones, ladies.....hormones!   I have worked up to jogging at intervals on my treadmill. Five minutes of jogging - five minutes of walking fast on an incline for a total of 40 minutes now. I am so proud of myself.   I love my belly dancing classes and my water aerobics as well. Next...ZUMBA! I am also looking forward to working out with my Wii Fit. I set that up this past weekend.   Yes...life is good and this sure is a journey. But it's a journey that I was ready for. You just can't jump into the band and expect it to be your saving grace. You have to be ready for it in the mind, heart and soul. I am....and it's paying off.   I am so VERY BLESSED!

Oh Yes...I Was Overfilled...

Just got back from the doctors office. I was overfilled! My 2nd fill was 5.5cc's and I could eat more than a cup but still not be hungry between meals. So for my third fill I though...ok, let's go for 6cc's that should be my sweet spot.   Well...for two or three days life was wonderful, then BAM!!!! I could only eat 3-4 bites and I could not get water down. I hurt and I could not lay straight down, I had to sleep upright because of the reflux. I did not throw up, just could not get a lot down.   Water became a fantasy for me. I was so thirsty. I just wanted water. It was the weekend so I thought I could get through the weekend then call the doc on Monday.   We set an appointment for Tuesday morning so I just got through one more day of uncomfortable.   I could not wait to see my nurse. She was like an angel to me! She thinks I could have gotten stuck so we took out the .5 that I had gotten the week before so my tummy could heal and have a plan to put only .2 or .3 back in next week.   I am back on liquids for the day but OH MY LORD they taste so wonderful to me!   From last week to this week I have lost 10lbs! You would think I would be very happy about that but I do not want to lose it that way. Dehydration. I am sure I will gain some of that back but I welcome it.   Some of the side effects of my overfill was exhaustion. I was so tired from not getting any calories. I could not exercise. I'd take a very very long nap in the middle of the day then wake up feeling groggy. Then I'd go to bed early. I had a bit of dizziness and lightheaded feelings.   I am glad I did not wait too long to go back in. Four days was enough!   The thing about being overfilled or possibly stuck is when it's your first time experiencing it, you are not so sure exactly what it is. When I had my 2nd fill, I got restriction about a week later so I thought, well it's restriction and it will loosen up a bit like my 2nd fill. But once you actually go through it you KNOW what it is!   So while my belly is taking a rest, I do not see this as a step backwards. I see it as one step closing to knowing exactly where my sweet spot is!   So I welcome this experience and I can't wait to get back to my exercise program and back to loving my days.   I am still a very happy bandster!

Did I Over Do It?....Laura Key....12 Weeks Post Op

Did I over do it? I had a fill this past Tuesday. I now have 6cc's in my 10cc band. I was able to eat more than a cup before with 5.5cc and was not hungry between meals.   But now with 6cc's I can only take a few bites or a few sips of something. I am not in any pain. I am not PBing or sliming.   I do feel tight after a few bites. So I am eating SLOWLY and gently. I am on soft foods until this weekend but I think I may have to stay on soft foods for a few more days.   Literally after a few bites I am FULL. And then my throat, tummy makes all these weird noises.   Not sure what to think after all this.   ________________________________ UPDATE: It's been four days now and I am as tight as can be. I can only get 3 or 4 bites in, then I feel like I have eaten to much. I remember when I had my 2nd fill I was tight for about two weeks, then it's slowly loosened. I am going to try and get through this and if two weeks pass and I still can't get anything down, then see the doctor.   On a good note....I've lost the additional 2lbs so I have hit the magic 50lbs!

3rd Fill...Almost 12 weeks...6cc's

Today I had my 3rd fill. I am now at 6cc's. I had pretty good restriction with 5.5cc but I think this is going to do it for me!   My doctor's office said I was a rock star! Yes I am tooting my own horn. He said the average lapband patient loses 50lbs in a year and here I am just at 48lbs in almost 12 weeks.   Boy....am I proud. I am very happy I have put the work into my band that needed to be done.   Next week my new bellydancing classes start! I am also looking into Zumba classes. Variety will help me reach my goal.   I love my band!

Week 11 Progress

Well, I dropped a few more pounds. I have now lost a total of 45lbs in 11 weeks. I have been working my butt off (no pun intended) on the treadmill for the last few weeks because I have had clients in the evenings and have not been able to do other things at the gym. My treadmill at home has been my lifesaver. I have kicked up the treadmill routine quite a bit. Lots of inclines and even jogging! Whew!   I PB'd for the first time last Sunday. Not fun but it was totally my fault. I was rushing to meet a client and ate too darned fast. It was over in 10 minutes but dang....   I go in for my third fill on August 11th. Not sure I will need many more cc's. Right now I am good. I can eat a little more than a cup but I don't get hungry in between meals. Someone told me in chat that I am already at my sweet spot. So I guess I will discuss that with my doctor next week.   My husband has booked our trip to Hawaii at the end of November and I am SOOOOOO looking forward to it. I can see myself walking those beautiful beaches and really not being concerned about my weight. What a freeing thought! I had wonderful Aloha dreams last night.   I went shopping last night with a friend and got this ADORABLE outfit that I will be wearing tomorrow. Shopping is FUN now. I try not to buy much since I am going down in sizes. Maybe one or two just for business purposes. I even tried on some really cool shoes. I was shocked to see they fit. Guess my feet are losing weight too. Did not buy them though. Lord I can't pay $69 for some shoes! Maybe later.:frown: I hope to take a good photo of me in it so I can post.   I feel better, I look better and I am still very happy I made the decision to be banded.

Going for Gold...Laura Key

I tell you...sometimes being a Realtor will throw your life into frantics. It's been a busy week but I am extremely proud of myself for turning off my phone for an hour a day to exercise and refresh a bit.   I kicked up my workout this week and it's kicking my butt in a good way.   I did not get to take my water aerobics classes this week but I worked out on my treadmill all week. I added five more minutes for 35 minutes and a five minute cool down. I now jog one minute, then walk with different inclines for four minutes. It switches up just a plain old workout.   I also added some arm exercises. I hope to combat some kind of flab. Shoot, I am aiming for "brick house" status by next year.   I have dropped a couple more pounds for a total of 42lbs since May 21st.   I have not had any issues with stuck foods or foods that I can't eat. I have not added pasta or bread to my diet yet. I don't miss it so I see no reason to add it back just yet.   My 3rd fill is scheduled for August 11th. Right now I think I am good with the restriction I have.   I have to say, it's been so nice for people to see me and say....WOW. It's a good feeling and the loose clothes are a huge plus. I have a full closet of clothes that need to be taken to consignment. Time for a couple dresses for business and maybe one or two new pairs of slacks. I am not trying to purchase a lot since I won't be in them long.   Life is good!   OK...this is an edit, just three minutes after my post.....I just PB'd for the first time. I think I ate my lunch to fast. It's not pleasant! Don't want to ever do that again!

Nine Weeks Progress!

Nine weeks today. Wow, wow, wow is all I can say. What a difference in my life.   As I am going through this I am learning as I go.   I have restriction. Breakfast gives me some issues. I have a hard time getting some things down. This morning the eggs just kinda went down hard. But it happens with oatmeal, pudding, etc.   A great bandster suggested I drink some hot tea 30 minutes before breakfast and I have to say that helps!   However I have more and more questions as I go because no matter how much you chat with people or your doctor before surgery, you just don't know until you are really banded.   Some of my questions... 1. Am I eating too much? I notice a lot of people in the chat room eat less than I do. Right now I average 3-4 ounces of protein, maybe a spoonful of spinach and 1 small red potato. I don't feel over full and I don't get hungry between meals.:cursing: I am still losing extremely well.   2. Do I really need another fill? I feel pretty good restriction now with 5.5cc's. My nurse said it will lessen before my next fill on August 11th, 2009. But it's been a week and a half and I don't think I've lost any restriction. My concern is....I don't want to be overfilled because that can be painful from what I hear.:cursing:   So...there it is. Questions and progress in one blog. Hoping people respond for future help of myself and others.   And....YES....I AM STILL HAPPY!:cursing:

Life's Little Surprises...Laura Key

Wow...I woke up Saturday and my body felt really different. I felt lighter and my hips had more room to move. Funny you notice little things. So, I jumped on the scale....something I don't do a lot because I don't want to chain myself down to that....AND.......five more pounds gone. 40lbs gone and I could not be more tickled.   Had to do with the fill since I had to do liquids for two days, soft foods for two days and then back to normal.   I continued to work out five days a week and it just paid off.   Everyday is a joy.   Now...I understand I could hit a plateau sooner or later and I am ok with that but for now...I am just enjoying my progress.

Eight Weeks Post Op....In Heaven

Last night I was able to attend my very first support group. The two hours flew by and before you knew it we were leaving.   I learned so much from that session. It was nice to have gastric bypass people in the group too so we could compare our experiences.   Majority of the group were lapbanders. I have not experienced much of what the others have gone through. I don't venture outside of what is on my approved food list, but some said the rice cakes go down pretty good. Me, I am still a bit afraid to test them. I haven't even added bread. I do pretty good with flour tortillas, but that was before my 2nd fill. Guess you can eat pretty much anything when you don't have restriction. Can't say I don't have some now. It takes me longer to eat and I can't have the same portions I had just last week.   Before my 2nd fill the nutritionist allowed me to have a cup and a half of food because I was so hungry between meals. Now I am doing good if I can get close to a cup. I still was losing weight though because in this day of Super Size me this and Super Size me that...a cup and a half is considered nuts. I was satisfied though and I continue to be very happy with my progress.   I can't believe it's been two months already. Man it just goes so fast. I am very proud of myself. I have made the adjustments and the mind changes as well as added more activity to my day with at least 30 minutes of exercise five days a week.   Cravings have gone away. I don't really have a "taste" for anything. My tummy tells me when I am hungry and I stick to a schedule as much as I can. Sometimes that's hard when you are a Realtor but I keep things in the car so I don't get off track.   I have to say it sure was nice to put a real face to a name. I met someone in group last night who I have befriended here on Lap Band Talk. She had her surgery in March and is doing fantastic.   All I can keep thinking now is....life is going to be great. Sure, we all go through ups and downs but when you are fat...well they become more of an issue. The stares, the laughs, the jokes, the cruel remarks. Nope...no more for me. I am on my way....this butterfly is breaking away from the cocoon.:smile2:

2nd Fill...Now 5.5cc's in a 10cc Band

Whoo Hoo! 2nd fill was performed today and I have some restriction. My first fill was 2.5cc's in June and today they added 3cc's. Nurse said I would fill restriction but it will lessen over the next month. My third fill is scheduled for Aug. 11th.   So...what does restriction fill like....well if you eat too much or too fast....a rock in your chest! Ask me how I know...   Well, I ate the same 1 cup portion of soup today and I was FULL FULL FULL! Also felt it doing down.:blushing:   I also tried to take my vitamins and they had a bit of trouble going down. Back to chewables for a few days before I try to swallow those again, and they are not big pills.   I now have officially lost 35lbs and I am feeling pretty divaish! Giggle!   Loving life and ready to rock and roll!

Seven Weeks...STILL HAPPY

I am feeling better and better everyday. I look at myself and see the butterfly emerging. It's wonderful. My clothes fit better - I feel better and I am not shying away from the camera anymore.   I had a gig this week and I let the photographer snap away. What's funny is I know I am not where I want to be but I know it's coming. (see my attached photo from the gig)   Here's something to ponder......why is it when you are going up the scale you run from the camera? However....when you are going down it's the same number on the scale as when you go up but it's a totally different outlook? I remember hitting 250 going up and crying....now I see 250 and I run to hubby for a photo! (ha) :cursing:   This week I worked out four days instead of five because of my gig, but I feel like I need to workout one more day so I am going to get on the treadmill tonight.   The chat room has been down for two days now and I feel lost without my friends. I love this site!   I go for my 2nd fill this Tuesday. I hope I get some restriction!:tongue_smilie:I still get a little hungry between meals but I just ignore it. I'm making progress so it's a small price to pay. I just drink water to help combat it.   I currently have 2.5cc in my 10cc band. Hope they give me an additional 2.5cc this week.

Six Week Happiness

Wow, it's been six weeks and I am so very happy with my decision. I am down 30lbs and feeling fantastic. I really feel that when the scale keeps going down it will be the last time I will see that number.   I have had one fill and I am looking forward to my second one on July 14th.   I get a little hungry in between meals but nothing that is making me climb the walls.   I bought two pair of shorts! Hey I am not at my goal but heck, why not? Haven't been in shorts in about five or six years.   I am loving life and marking things off of my bucket list.   I have checked into my Harley Davidson Riding class and bellydancing classes. This time next summer...boom chicka boom!:confused3:
