    Struggle

Well for me things got so much better in weeks 7 and 8 once I started back on real nonmushy food. I had more energy and the bathroom got back to my normal routine. I had very little nausea post op, and as I tried new foods that did happen a few times when I tried something I wasn't ready for. Now, over 15 months out I don't have any food restrictions really. The pills...well, I still do watch how big my pills are. I cut them in half if I can. I take krill oil since the fish oil pills are so large. It will get better. Popcorn safe to eat?

Popcorn...it goes down just fine and has since about 6 months post op. It is so easy to overeat that I try to avoid. I haven't said I will never eat popcorn again...but it isn't something I can use as a regular snack. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    I need help

It hasn't been as fast for me as I thought it would be. But, when I'm on plan the scale keeps moving down. When l get off track it stops going down or gets incredibly s...l...o...w. So, I know it is me and what I eat. Gastric sleeve stats are losing 60% of excess weight at 2 years post op. For me that is about 137 lbs. Well at 15 months I'm at 128lbs. So, I will for sure beat that 60 % figure. I didn't get to almost 400 lbs in one year. I'm not going to lose all my weight in one year either. Find success in how you feel better walking around without that extra weight on. If you forgot, go to the gym and try picking up a 60lb barbell and walk around for a bit. It is heavy! Pick one place and start making those changes...are you getting 60 or more oz of protein? Are you taking your vitamins? Then add another good thing in next week and the week after. You can get back to the zone. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. In the early stages it isn't easy to tell what is hunger and what is full. The advice is to go slow so that you can keep it all down. If you can tolerate more liquids I agree with the others that you are fine. As you expand into other foods you will feel a new type of full. There will be months of learning and changes. 5. With any procedure over time it is more about food decisions than the actual procedure. You can gain weight back after any of them. For me logging my food always helps me when I feel off track. As pointed out by others the alcohol can add a lot of extra calories. It sounds like you are pushing yourself to eat more...if you are eating as much as your friends and cramping then you aren't listening to your body signals. If it were me, I would go back to the beginning. Do a couple of days of liquids. Then go back to the fundamentals of 60g of protein and 60 oz of water. Protein first. No liquids 30 min. before, during, or after meal. No alcohol. Reaquaint yourself with the fundamentals and then see where you are. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. You did the right thing going back to your Dr. I'm 8 months post op. I workout with trainer 3 times a week. I try to keep my carbs around 100g on gym days. Otherwise my goal is more like 60g. My key is still to keep to the protein first. I add in starchy veggies on gym days so that I don't start back down the path of bread and rice which I can easily over eat. Also stay hydrated. As I moved back into more and intense workouts I found that I needed to make sure I had my 60 oz of water during the day before my workouts (we do evenings). How much protein?

My team (surgeon and nut) say no more than 1 protein shake per day once you get out about 3 months. I look at it as I need to eat this way the rest of my life. So having a protein shake for breakfast is often my go to and I'd be happy with that for the foreseeable future. I like my shakes. I do chocolate premier protein plain or with some pb2 powder for on cup shake. I do vanilla with pb2 powder for more pure pb taste. I don't have a shake everyday, but probably have 4 to 5 per week. Lately they have become my go to dinner when I do night workouts at gym. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Unable to tolerate meat!?!?

I had sleeve and struggled with chicken for first couple of months. By month 3 that seemed to go away. Fruits with skin also gave me problems in the first couple of months. Since month 6 I haven't found any foods off limit. So, be patient and keep trying. Have you pureed the meat? Ground chicken, turkey or beef? Tuna was an easy one for me from the beginning. Other options: pb2 powder. It doesn't have the same fat content as peanut butter. Lentils are a fave. Look into black beans and lima beans too. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    6 month weight loss program?

My insurance accepted my program JumpstartMD. They required medical supervised and I met with a PA twice a month. Insurance even covered the program (out of network but still reimbursed me 75%). They would also accept a nutritionist visit. My surgeons office was very helpful with that process. I would run this through the surgeons insurance coordinator. 10. My mother spent the first couple of months asking me over and over if I was sure and didn't I want to try and do it on my own. She never directly came out and said she thought it was a bad idea, but that was sure the message. It wasn't until a month or so before surgery that she switched on me. I never asked why but she became very supportive. I agree that often it is fear behind the lack of support. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

Are You tubers steering me wrong?

The store has treated me well. I recently had something off with a product and they gave me credit. I would not hesitate to order through the bariatricpal store. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Worried about leakages.

I'm a planner too. It does comfort me. I had the sleeve. I had a swallow test the morning after my surgery. No problems so I was allowed to try my first protein shake. For me I had total faith in my surgeon and her outcomes. So if you have faith in your surgeon then focus on that. So, if your surgeon doesn't find that test necessary, confirm what they do use or look for so that you can help identify any symptoms and communicate with the staff. Ask them for instructions about what you should do if you have concerns...what number to call etc... Then trust in your preparations. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

  14. I agree with the others on the blood pressure. That is what got me. Turns out I "had" to go off my bp meds. No longer needed them. [emoji2] Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. This is perfect timing for me. I just hit 6 months and see my Dr this week. I've been traveling a bunch, which means eating out. It was easy to see some old habits creep in. Back to tracking everything...thats always my best tool. Thank you for sharing...feels good to know I'm not alone. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
