Am i a failure?

So a little about me. Starting weight 252, i was banded on Oct 1st weighing 232. I've had a very good recovery except for a little bit of gas pain. Sincy surgery i've lost about 13-14 lbs. I can't seem to get anymore weight off of me.

I've had 2 fills and still no restriction. I only have 2cc's in. I don't knkow what else to do. I can eat just about anything and as much as i want. I'm feeling like this tool i have is letting me down. Excercising 3 times a week. Doing my best at portion sizes. What's my problem now why can't i loose any weight. I have only lost 1.5 lbs in 7 weeks. I feel like such a failure.:w00t:

When i get stressed i turn to food and i know that's not the thing to do but i'm loosing my drive. I have the band to help me and it's not doing what i paid for it to do. My Dr will only fill 1cc per visit. When am i going to get restriction? Somebody please help me.

you are not a failure, you just have not hit your sweet spot yet therefore the band is not fully working for you. Some people need 5 or 6 fills to get to their sweet spot before the wieght starts coming off. Not all victories can be judged by the scale either. How do your cloths fit? any improvement? What about your energy level? Check with your Dr. and see if they have a support group you can attend. I sind them VERY helpful myself. Good luck, but keep in touch with your DR. that is the KEY TO SUCESS!

Sounds like your doctor has boat payments to make if he is only filling you 1 cc at a time. I am not banded yet but in reading here, many people require 8 or more ccs.

It may seem like it is taking forever but sooner or later you will get to the correct restriction.

Look on the bright side, you haven't gained any weight.

The band is not letting you down, nor is it doing the job you want it to do because it hasn't yet been 'activated' aka reached the point where you have restriction.

Talk to your doctor. I had my first fill of 3 cc's two days ago. They said future fills will not be so aggressive. Despite the fill, I don't have restriction/am feeling hungry/can eat as much as I want if I let myself and so I made another fill appointment in two weeks even though they originally set me up for a month.

I was told most patients don't get restriction until about 6 cc's.

I didn't have restriction until 6ccs in my 10 cc band. It felt like it was never gonna happen! I now have 7.5ccs (I think...lol) and things are good. Don't worry about what the scale says, keep your nose to the ground, and stay motivated. I got frustrated and gained back a significant amount of weight back after my 1 yr anniversary. Was just sick of "behaving" but when my body started groaning and paining about being abused again I went back to the dr and got on track.

Thank you all for the encouraging words. I just didn't think it would be this hard. I was hoping my band would really work with me and it feels like it's working against me. I may see if i can get another fill sooner than my scheduled appt 12/29. I just got another monday and i'm at 2cc's but it's doing nothing for me.

Keep me in your prayers cause i struggling.

No matter WHEN you go for that next fill, emphasize that you get hungy much quicker than in four hours, that you can eat quite a bit more than you were led to believe would be a satisfying meal and point out that your weight loss is pretty much stalled ... and tell them you NEED more than a 1cc fill to move you forward. Lots of docs don't want to do more than a 1cc fill, so you may be up against that mindset but push. Ask for AT LEAST 2 MORE CCS which would take you to 4. Probably not your sweet spot but I'm thinking if you get 2 ccs that's probably going to be a big concession on your doc's part.

My first fill was 4 ccs on top of .6cc that was left in my band when they tested it in the operating room. That was too tight at the time and they removed 1cc. Then, a month later, took me right past that 3.6cc with no problem. At 5.8ccs and I've been at that point for a few weeks, I am at my sweet spot. For others it takes more than that. Our physical details are not all exactly the same, so what is enough for one, isn't enough for another and can be too much for a third person. So just work with it. When you get this next fill, make an appointment for as soon as they will let you have another fill. Better to have it on the books!
