Approved..Setting a Date

I got approved through Tricare! Yay Me! I am in the process of setting a date for the surgery. Looks like it will be 5/22/09! Woo Hoo! They are not requiring a pre-op diet, but I was curious what kind of pre-op diet you all had? Any suggestions. I want to start to train myself now. I already do a protein shake for breakfast everyday!

I was just approved through Tricare, also. I was suprised that it only took a week to get approval. My date is June 1, 2009. I can't wait, I'm so excited that I am finally going to lose this weight!!!

Good luck to you!!

I had my surgery 1 month ago and feel great. The first few days were really uncomfortable but don't worry about it. It is soooo worth it. I have lost 24 pounds since surgery and 11 on the liver shrinking diet beforehand. Not everybody has to follow a special diet before depends upon your BMI. Mine was 54 so I had to do it. Just eat high protein foods and protein shakes for 10-days before surgery. Congratulations on your decision. Your new life begins after banding.

my surgery is may 21st - i started my required 7 day all liquid diet today!

Congrats! We need to stay in touch since our surgeries are the same day. How exciting. They didn't make me do a pre-op diet. They said it's because my BMI is only 37.9.

How exciting, my surgery is 5-22-09! I'm nervous but more excited! I am on a pre-op diet that includes protein shake for breakfast and lunch and a sensible dinner, chicken breast and veggies. So it's not that bad...goodluck everyone

I'm going to be using TriCare also...they approved my consult visit....so I hope they approve the surgery as well(since it's 100%). I'm on the lower end of the weight spectrum, but I am considered to be 100lbs over my ideal weight (117-133lbs) and I have type 2 diabetes....

How long did it take from your consult, to get approved and get your surgery date? I hope I don't have to wait 6 months, but I guess that would be dependant on the dr. right??

congrats savannahsmommie!!!:rolleyes2:

i have tricare as well and my bmi and weight is the same as yours. i have a few more appointments til i figure out if tricare will approve me, but knowing you got approved, makes me extremly happy!!!!

did you have any comorbids?

  • 2 weeks later...

could you tell me of any potential issues i may have with tricare? I am applying throufg them now.

Thanks for any info you can give me. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

The only problem I had with Tricare is that they would not let me use the only doctor in town that does lap-bands. I have to drive almost 2 hours to the doctor that they approved. He is absolutely wonderful, so I don't really mind. It only took a week to get approval after my consultation appt. As soon as they got that, they gave me a date 2 weeks from then. As long as you meet their criteria, Tricare will approve you pretty quick!
