  1. My nutritionist told me three meals per say. I'm four weeks out and eat less than one thousand calories per day. Good luck. BigAli
  2. I read 2 books on WLS, one was Fighting Weight which I didn't really like, if I wanted to read an auto-biography on Ali I would have bought one! Rhe other was actuallu on a woman who had gastric bypass, but it related to lots of WLS facts. I thought it was excellent! It was called BEFORE & AFTER by Susan Maria Leach. I highly recommend it! Thanks for the book suggestions, I'm going to order right now :-) BigAli
  3. Victoriasmom98, My surgery is June 18th also in Wareham, Mass by Dr. Kruger. I hope to be in close touch with all of you June Bandsters!!! God bless us all! BigAli
  4. Debra, I'm 26 days away from having lap band surgery, my nutritionist told me to do the same things that were asked of you.....no more coffee. (not even decaf!) .one month before and three months after surgery..... stop drinking 1/2 before and 1 hour after eating....chewing small bites very slowly. I took each one of these on one at a time. First I gave up the coffee for a whole week...then I stopped the drinking before and after meals. Finally, I'm working on chewing slowly. By far the most difficult of these new eating habits is the no drinking before and after meals. It takes time and practice. We also have to start taking the Vitamins a month before so that your body can adjust to all of these changes. I can't imagine taking on all of these changes the day after surgery! This is for your own good believe me.
  5. My psych told us in group the other day that by now - about a month before surgery - we should stop the "last suppers" BECAUSE after surgery, when we are finally eating solids we can eat "almost" everything IN MODERATION! It is funny, as soon as I accepted this fact the "last suppers" ended. :grouphug:
  6. My psychologist recommended a book "Dr. Kushner's Personality Type Diet" it includes a test in it - if you answer thr questions honestly, you will be amazed! Very, very helpful...should be mandatory for all WLS patients!
  7. Oh my God - that'd great news, a win-win situation!!! I hope I didn't come across as lecturing you the other day! It's the mother in me...I can't help it. You have made my day - God has blessed you. Best of luck and blessings sent your way. Big Ali  :w00t:
  8. I went to the Seminar on Feb. 24 and just got my date today, I will be banded on June 22nd. Big Ali
  9. Wootsie73, Our group was told yesterday that a blood test would be done before surgery and if nic was present - NO SURGERY! That stinks, but, they are thinking of you and your recovery! This is the beginning of a healthier life for you - do it right! (Easy for me to say, I've never smoked! Good luck on your journey! Big Ali
  10. I have Harvard Pilgrim Ins. and I just got a date today - it's June 22nd, I'm excited and scared all at once!!! Big Ali
  11. Dear talkalit1981, My program says one month nicotine free and does blood test, BUT I was told last night that the Program will be switching to 3 months nic free very soon. Not a problem for me, I'm a non-smoker but that sucks for smokers! Big Ali
  12. I've been told that I'm going to have my surgery in June don't have exact date yet. Wareham, Mass. Will keep you posted
  13. Donnarama03, I'm going to meet with a nutritionist on 4/10th. My lap band surgery probably won't be until June. I'm glad your doing well. I'll be watching your progress and wish you continued success! BigAli
  14. Congrats, how are you doing? I'm same age, I hope you don't mind, I'm going to be watching your progress. Inspire me! Good luck and God Bless!
  15. Tiffany, Congrats! I'm so psyched and look forward to my turn. I was wondering if the lap band versus the gastric bypass lessens the loose skin problems. If anyone knows about that please inform. Thanks!
  16. I'm just starting in the process, I'll probably have my surgery in May or June. I love reading all of the "things I won't miss" lists. I can relate to 90% of them. It's so good to be able to hash things out with others who are in the same boat!
