Just Joined, Looking To Give & Get Support

Recommended Posts

I just joined this sit in hopes to find others out there looking for support,

I am 27yrs old and was banded on August 7th 2008, it's been just over 5 months and i am down 33.5lbs

It's been very slow for me, I chose the LB because of the risks of the Gastric Bypass, My family felt this was the safer way.

I am starting to get down on myself because I can't see a difference, others can see one in me but I can not. It's hard because I just want to be healthy.

It there anyone out there struggling ?

Any advice is more than welcome.

I am here for friends, don't be shy, I won't bite.

I am a very lovin and caring woman and just want to know I am not the only out having struggles!!!

Take care and hope to chat to you all soon!!!

Stacy

Hi Stacy

Welcome to this very friendly informative forum. you may be a slow loser but you are 33 lbs lighter than you would have bee nwithout your band.

Posting and reading here will help you stay focussed and there are always people who are going through or have gotten over what you are.

Why not post on one of the more specific threads about anything you are struggling with and someone will be along to help. We all struggle with the band at times. My particular problem is eating too fast, I know I need to work harder at going slower.

I was banded in November and am just going to arrange my second fill. I have lost 50 lbs including my pre op diet and am happy with that as I know that I am in it for the long haul and I was warned that weight loss is slow and steady with a band compared to the bypass where people lose lots really quickly.

I am sure you have reduced clothing size so although you may not see a huge difference when you look in the mirror yourself, 33lbs must be very noticeable to others and I am sure that it has had a positive effect on your health.

Best of luck to you, take care.

Sue

Hello! I had my band done Aug. 22 and I have only lost 34lbs. My husband had his band done Oct. 6 and he is down 50lbs. He started out at 324lbs. and I started out at 224lbs. I think the bigger you are the quickier you lose. I hope after my next fill on the 26th I will start losing more. I have a 9cc band and I am at 6cc. Good luck to you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
