Hello!

My name is Jon and I'm here in Philadelphia.

I work in the New York area and I'm scheduled for my lap-band surgery on 11/11.

I did really well on Phen-fen and was very disappointed when it was withdrawn from the market. I'm hoping that I can get on the road to feeling better, especially the pain in my back and knee!

I just got home from my pre-admission testing and was browsing around the Web and landed here.

After attending insurance-mandated group sessions at the hospital here in Philly, I get the impression that there are far more women than men getting this procedure...it almost seems as if the only men involved in the bariatric surgery universe are the surgeons!;)

Best of luck to all,

Jon

7_5_142.gif Welcome Jon. Glad to have you here. There are quite a few men being banded. My surgeon had it himself. There is a men's thread on this sight. Go to the left side and scroll down (more than 1/2 way) you will find it. Good luck on your journey.

Welcome Jon !

I too am male and did really well on Phen-Fen, lost almost 80 lbs, then POOF I went back to the human yo-yo game. In regards to the men to women ratio I think the guys just do a lot more reading than posting. This site has been an amazing resourse for me, without it I would have given up on the insurance game and would not have been any where near as well prepared prior to and immediately after my banding. I was banded this past Monday 10/20 and thanks to all the info, and the fact that I followed the advise for a change, I actually feel pretty good today. You'll be amazed at how much info is available on this site. Best of luck . . . .
