2nd Day Post Op

Hello fellow September Bandsters...I am 2 days post op and feeling ok. I was surprised I had to stay in the hospital as long as I did. I am so happy it is over and everything went well. All the anxiety about my liver shrinking is also over thank goodness. Now I am just rying to heal. I lost 13 lbs before surgery on my liquid diet:thumbup: and gained like 5 lbs after surgery:mad2: with no appetite which I understand is normal because of the bloating. The gas hasn't been as bad maybe because I am trying to walk alot. Note to anyone being banded soon when the nurse ask you to use that breathing amchine thing 10 times an hour please do it, I didn't because it hurt but now I have a little congestion to deal with . I am really surprised at how I feel today..I still need help getting in and out of bed but other than a soreness in my tummy I feel ok. I don't like using the word hate but I really hate being nauseous:thumbdown: and have only had 1 real bout of it so far which I am also grateful for. I know there are possibilites down the line with the band. Anyway just wanted to post, I really love this website and I'm glad to begin this new journey with all of you. Good Luck

Mustluv, it sounds like you are doing well. It was well over a week before I was able to get in and out of bed without help. I remember that being the hardest part. But, you will improve every day.

Trinidad, two days out and you have had mashed potatoes and half a biscuit? Is that allowed with your doctor's post-op? You should really only be on liquids for the first couple of weeks.

I had my surgery yesterday, I feel great. Soar, from the incesions, but I went to the mall, and walmart with no problem. I am only eating broth, and Jello. I will say that I can't quite tell if the internal feeling I hvae is hunger, or my body saying no more, or just soreness. I guess this is such a change from the way I was eating before. I lost 21 pounds on the liver shrinking diet, So I am hoping to use that as a catapult to more weight loss. Good luck everyone.

If your nausea problem continues ask the doctor to prescribe a liquid antinausea medication. I had it and it's called something like fenegren????

If you can get off the pain meds the nausea problem may go away. I never had pain medication after day 2 because I hate nausea more than I hate pain.

Best wishes for your success.
