I need HELP PLEASE ASAP

Recommended Posts

Hello there, I had my surgery on March 31st, I was on clear liquid for 4 days, then on full liquid and then I am suposed to move on to blenderized food which I thought was yesterday. However, I went to my sisters house last night and they had chicken on the bbq. with mashed potatoes. I put the chicken in the blender and blended it up with honey Teriyakito make it smooth. I had 1 oz of the chicken and 1 oz of the mashed potato. I was full after eating just that.I came home and read in the hand out that my doctor had given me that I wasn't suposed to start the blenderized until MONDAY! I started it 2 days before I was suposed to and now I am worried. Should I be? I tried to get in touch with my doctor, but they aren't in the office today. I don't know what to do...can someone help me please?

I was banded 4/2 and last night had halibut and medium cooked asparagas with a little bit of hollaindaise (sp?) for dinner. My doc requires post-op 1 week liquids/soups and then 1 weeks "anything you can smash with a fork"- though a few items are still a no no. Ive read that post-op diets vary from doc to doc and some are extremely stringent- and some lax. As long as youre not getting things lodged in there I think youre far enough past surgery to start easing into normal foods. I had soft chicken in my chili yesterday- I just chewed it thoroughly.

Every center has different guidelines. I was in the hospital for 3 days after my band and they brought me custard, ice cream, cream of wheat and jell-o the night after surgery! You simply need to let the swelling go down, if it wasn't down you would have not been able to swallow the food. Relax, don't be so literal, your body will tell you if it is ok or not.

agreed with the poster above - as long as you feel ok, i wouldn't worry. it's all about how you are feeling - and it's a great thing that you were good and blended it.

You won't stretch the pouch with one blended meal. The reason you are to be on liquids and then mushies before regular food is to give yourself time to heal. One blended meal a couple of days before they are allowed is not going to hurt you at all. Just be good between now and Monday and you'll be fine.

How do you strech the pouch? I think that its cute that we have the same weight tracker and both are followers of christ! Thank you for your advice! I see that you are doing so well, thats great! Can you tell me your ups and downs?

My doctor told me that mushies are so the stomach doesn't have to work so hard to break down food, not so that it can be swallowed with ease. Please get back on track until your instructions state you can change phases.

I agree... U did not follow it that 1 day but now get back to what yr Dr. told u and on Monday start the mushies. They wouldn't have told u to wait unless it was a reason. I'm sure it wont hurt u but u just don't want to stop or slow your progress dwn in any way. How did the blended chicken taste... I think I would rather have a protien drink i couldn't imagine drinking chicken.....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
