Count down to Surgery

I have just a little over 2 weeks until my surgery, April 28th! I started my journey July of last year and boy has it been a roller coaster ride getting there. Looking for any kind of feed back from others, once I learn how to navigate around this web site. My doctor is Dr. Mark Fusco/ Melbourne, Fl.

so how are you feeling? are you still just on liquids?

Hi Learning...

I am feeling pretty good thxs for asking. I am on a full liquid diet still...

I go back to the doctor April 17th...

With full liquids it is nice you can have the pudding, Jello, cream of wheat

so it isn't to bad. and soup:thumbup:

Take care...

Thats good.

So after being banded thats what we have to eat? (pure liquids?)

Learning...

From what I understand you start out with clear liquids...then full liquids....then mushies...then finally reg food again...you have to allow the stomach to heal...

I believe it will be worth it in the end...

Good luck...

That's pretty much it. The length of time you spend in each stage and what foods are considered to be in which category varies by doctor, so be sure to check with YOUR doctor about his/her plan and don't go exclusively by what you read here. Doctors vary their plans to fit their thoughts and feelings on how our bodies recover after surgery, so it's best to do what yours says. :smile2:

Good luck!

Sorry It took so long for me to reply. I am on day three and so far so good. I am on the Optifast shakes. I am also allowed jello and popcicles. I did cheat last night. I have a 16 yr old daughter that I still have to cook for, so I did eat a very small piece of baked chicken. I weighed myself this morning and I have already lost 4lbs. I'm a little worried about the weekend. That is when I tend to eat more compared to the weekdays.

PIP1973, I think that is great! Keep up the good work. I like seeing success stories along with what everyoe is going thru. I flew thru all my pre-op testing, and I told my BFF, that I was rounding 3rd heading for home plate, I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnell. Keep those messages coming

Hi Everyone

I was worried about getting thur the weekend, but I did pretty good. I did eat one baked chicken wing on Sunday. Having a hard time getting down the 64ozs of water. I weighed myself this morning and I am down 7lbs. Good luck on your surgery April 30th.

Oooh ooh! Another April 30!!

I was starting to think I was the only one!

Hi,

I am right behind you. My surgery date is April 30th and I start the pre -op diet on tomorrow (sunday).

Lets keep each other encouraged:)

Hang in there everyone! I go for my gall bladder ultrasound this week. Also, back to the sleep doc for a followup and pre op bloodwork, EKG, and chest x-rays....

I hope it all turns out ok..

I can feel all of your excitement, I am only HOURS from my surgery. I need to report to the hospital at noon and my surgery is about 2-3 this afternoon. I thought I wouldn't have to spend the night but due to the fact it is so late in the day I will be staying till eary tomorrow morning. Funny thing is I am not the least bit nervous, but definetly ready to start my journey. I will post how it all went tomorrow.

mklady63...I'm thinking about you...you should be resting from surgery!!!! YEA!!!
