Hi everyone! My name is Alli. On April 10th I will be getting the Realize Lap Band surgery here in Richmond, Virginia with Dr. Greg Schroder. Im really excited about this because I have had a life long struggle with my weight. I am almost 31 years old, and I want to be healthy!! I am currently on the liver shrinking diet, and I feel like I have already lost some weight. I have 7 more days to go on this. I am really looking forward to this new chapter in my life. Welcome to LBT. I am fairly recently banded (Feb. 15) and have not had a fill yet. I have postponed my fill to May 1 due to travel.

So, I don't have much advice, but wanted to welcome you and wish you well on your journey!

What exactly is the Realize band! I haven't heard about it. Is it the Inamed band?

It is the one they have been using in Europe for a long time that just got FDA approval here. It is made by Johnson & Johnson. Your band has a UPC so to speak and once you have the surgery you can log in and basically have a virtual place to "keep tabs" on your success. I havent been into the site that deeply yet, but I love anything with a website.

I will be banded with realize band on April 16th. Do you mind if I ask why you chose the realize band? I was given the choice of which I wanted. I've heard the realize has a great support program on their website and since my doctor said the performance of both are about the same I picked realize.
