Calling all April 8th Avengers!

Hi April 8th Avengers!

If you have a two week pro-op diet to start, today is the day!

I was not totally prepared for it and it caught me off guard. First day hasn't been to bad so far. I need to go shopping. Yesterday was my education class, it lasted three hours and was very informative. I can't believe how quickly the time has flown and the 8th is almost here. Lets keep in touch so we can support each other.

Hello ladies and congratulations on your success!

Carol OH, I'm sorry about your loss. Sheesh, what I mean to say is I'm glad you've lost weight, just sad for you that you lost your father. This loss stuff can get tricky! 37 pounds? That is amazing! Hope the stress eases soon, as well as the pain.

Carol Il, sounds like you are doing great! 16 pounds is pretty darn awesome as well!

Livn, good to hear from you too.

I'm not sure of my total loss (haven't been watching the scale... it was making me nutso! I plan to weigh again on the 8th... and on the 8th of each month. At least for now) but I've given away just about all my clothes and I'm having to shop for more, so I know I'm making progress.

My best to you all!

Carol I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, I have been there and at age 34 to lose my dad makes me feel very cheated in life, I will be praying for u and your family. Seems like eveyones weight lose is doing great! Good job everyone. Sorry I dont get to post much just really busy, but I am thinking about everyone and how we are doing. I had my first fill last week and due for #2 on June 30th, so far I am down 26 lbs total and already down a pant size so I feel great.......Cindy

2 months out and I'm stuck at 230. I've been fighting the same 2 pounds for 3-4 weeks now. Somedays its down....somedays its up.

Frustrating but I've still lost 56 pounds and I'm thrilled about that!

I liked it better when I thought I lost 58 pounds.....such is life...I'm not changing my ticker....I'll get back there....I was hoping to be at 60 pounds lost at 2 months post op....I'll keep trying.....

I hear your frustration Carol!!! It's been over 2 weeks and I've not lost a thing. My exercise is good (30 mins or more most days), my calorie level is good (700-900 most of the time), my Protein is where it should be (60ish grams per day) and I'm not eating the "bad" stuff. Folks keep saying they can see the changes in my face, and truthfully, I can too, but I'd sure love to see the scale drop below 200.

We'll get there, just maybe not quite as quickly as we'd like :P

Hi ladies,

I was so happy to find this thread.... I too was banded on April 8th. I have not made near the progress that you guys have made--congratulations on your success.

My weight loss has been slow, was stuck for 5 weeks!!! but just recently started losing again. I have had two fills for a total of 2.2 cc's and my band is pretty tight right now.

I would love to keep in contact with you, after all we April 8th Avengers must stick together.

Lynn

Well,

Welcome Lynn...you are right we are here to support each other. Sometimes hearing that someone else is going thru the same non loss as you is very comforting...like you now know that your doing everything right but nothing is happening. Our bodies need to catch up with the loss we've already had. I just keep thinking that 9 months ago when I started my journey I weighed 286 pounds and can happily say that I now weight 229 pounds. 87 pounds lost and gone forever....yeah!!!! I just wish that it wasn't soo slow. I knew going into this it wasn't going to come off overnight...and I'm okay with that. Every pound lost is terriffic!

Happy 3 month bandiversary!!! I hope you are all doing well and making steady (slow or fast, either one works!!!) progress.

I'd love to hear from you all... please chime in as time allows.

Me, down 46 since surgery and 56 since the beginning. I was really hoping to be half way (60 ish) by today, but I feel great and I can still enjoy so many foods so I'm not complaining. I wanted to lose slowly and I have been, so that is a good thing. Best of all? My size 14's are loose!!!!

Happy bandiversary to you guys too!!! It is amazing to me that it was only 3 months ago today that this journey started.

Congrats on 56 pounds Cori!!! That is awesome!!

Me: Down 25 pounds total, 20 since surgery. 42 pounds to go before the end of the year.

Hi April 8th Avengers! I have been missing in action...I haven't been posting much. I'm down 60 pounds since my journey began.

CinniMae08-How are you doing?

Carol4784-How are you doing?

Hope everyone is doing great!

Hi April 8'ers. Sorry for not being good about responding. Just got first fill July 9th...have had complications.....swelling around band, started mid-May, on predisone, hard to lose on predisone, was hospitalized, was not keeping even clear liquids down. Husband has also been in hospital due to fall day before my father died. Husband also in motorcyle accident. Have had two vacations absolutely cancelled. Dang. Too much going on. Somehow have managed to lose 45 lbs. Not sure how. Started at 256 down to 211. Was at a complete stall while on predisone (for 4 weeks). Sounds like everyone is doing really well. Can't believe it's been 3 months.

Carol813..how's your husband doing after his motorcycle accident?

Your weight loss is doing well, even with you having been on prednisone. I've been thinking about you and wondering how it's going.

Later...

  • 1 month later...

This is Carol from Ohio. Between father dying and husband's motorcycle accident I decided that I didn't have enough crap in my life so my band developed an erosion It was removed on Monday, 8/25. I was vomiting constantly.

I am depressed, but mostly I'm angry. I have just spent over $12.5K of my own freaking $ for this thing. I wish I had never heard of lapband. I'm screwed. I have lost around 50 lbs. have 50 more to lose.

Go back to Dr. on Tuesday to have drain removed from stomach. Heard it gonna hurt like he** Pain is a LOT worse second time than first. Band had worn hole in my upper stomach. Dr. office claims that I am his first of 1600 patients to have erosion (altho Dr. has removed bands with erosion placed by other doctors.).

I have spent the last two weeks mostly crying. I don't know what else to do. This was my last hope. Not sure if my insurance is gonna pay for the removal...they say they will. I don't remember the last time I felt this low. I am still in shock that this did not work. Why me?

Oh Carol I'm so sorry for all that is going on in your life. I'm sorry to hear about all the problems you had with your band. Did they tell you why the erosion occured? or how it makes the hole? I will keep you in my prayers so that you heal and keep the weight off. I think I would be crying too if this happened to me. Keep your chin up...you have lost 50 pounds and you were on your way to healthier eating. I'm sure you have learned a few tricks to keep on track now without the band.

I hope that your husband has recovered from his accident without any adverse effects. God Bless you my friend!

The sucky thing is that I never ate a regular diet the whole time I was losing. I was on predisone and mushy or liquid diet so much....I never even got to try to eat a piece of steak or chicken. No, I take that back, I did eat some tiny bits of chicken a couple times) I think I ate one salad....it came up. I love fruits and vegetables. I couldn't eat them because I wouldn't have room to eat them after my Protein.....which was eggs or baby food or slim fast. I had 2 pieces of pizza. Total. Small pieces.

The only thing I learned was that I really wish I'd never heard of lap band. Randy is losing patience with me and tells me I need to get over this but I am so freaking angry I just can't hardly stand it. I know that I will probably need to see someone professionally to get over the anger. I am so pissed I can't stand it. My blood pressure is totally outrageoius. It was 210 over 115 the other day. I'm back on 2 extra meds. now, I have recurrent gout on my foot. Am taking prednisone coz of gout, can't take anything else because of kidney disease. I feel so trapped. I'm not looking forward to them taking out tube from stomach on Tuesday. I think I just want to go to bed and curl up.
