Eating out at Costco!
I did the same thing yesterday. I used to make the mistake of getting a salad at the snackbar before I went in and not having enough room for the samples....now I know better. You just have to be sure and chew, chew, chew. I have gotten "stuck" walking and eating. Be careful.... My husband and I always have "lunch" at costco when we shop.....hehehe. Isn't it great.

How come the weight isn't coming off?
This is the story of my life!!! I was banded April 8th and have lost a total of 18 pounds since my surgery--23 all together. I exercise (go to the gym, run, hike, bicycle, swim) every day, eat very little, had 2 fills and have decent restriction, but cannot lose pounds!! Don't feel bad--we were banded around the same date and you have lost far more weight than I have.... you are doing great!!!! P.S. Like the others have mentioned, I also have started logging my food intake and exercise on myfitnesspal.com and I may be eating too few calories...try it and see where you come out....

Did anyone smoke when they had surgery
Hi Wendy, A woman who didn't quit smoking was scheduled for surgery the same day as me, but was denied because she couldn't pass the breathing test. She was totally devastated . They prescribed Chantrix for her, have you tried that? She eventually quit and rescheduled her surgery for 3 weeks later. It is still not too late to quit...I am a 15 year die hard smoker and managed to quit exactly 1 week before surgery. I just made a decision that this surgery is more important. It is, isn't it to you? You can do it!!!

Unexplained pain... and more.
I get the same ache in my port area when I have overdone my exercising. My doctor prescribes an anti-inflammatory regimen (3 days) and a heating pad. Usually after a few days the pain goes away. Remember, the band is only a tool. You know (having already lost 70 pounds) that you must put forth an effort for it to work for you. Don't be hasty about getting it removed, give the band a chance!! Get your port fixed, get an unfill, get back on track with your eating and excercising routine and I am sure the weight will start coming off once again.

How do I buy regular clothes?
Isn't it wonderful??? Congratulations!!!!

Port location. Can we choose?
Hehehe......I have my on my left side as well. I saw somewhere on the news that they are making bands that are without port. The band is opened and tightened electronically with some type of remote.....It is still experimental--that would be great, wouldn't it? No more needles!!!

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?
I feel the exact same way. I had my second fill last Wednesday and have not been able to eat very much since then. I have 2.2 cc's in a 4 cc band. Here is what I ate yesterday. Breakfast: 1/2 South Beach Meal Bar (crunchy, kind of like rice crispies) Lunch - Dannon Fit n' Light yogurt with 1 small banana Dinner - 1/3 cup Quinoa, 2 ounces of baked fish, 1/4 a stuffed portabello mushroom and.a SF, FF Creamsicle. It is very difficult for me to eat anything solid before 5pm. I simply can't without getting stuck and/or PB'ing. I could not even get soup down at lunch today, but ate a salad for dinner? Are we too tight?

Calling all April 8th Avengers!
Hi ladies, I was so happy to find this thread.... I too was banded on April 8th. I have not made near the progress that you guys have made--congratulations on your success. My weight loss has been slow, was stuck for 5 weeks!!! but just recently started losing again. I have had two fills for a total of 2.2 cc's and my band is pretty tight right now. I would love to keep in contact with you, after all we April 8th Avengers must stick together. Lynn Well,

I miss....
I always get stuck on bread and end up PB'ing. So bread is the enemy to me....everytime I crave it, I think of the pain when it gets stuck then the craving goes away. I really miss chugging water!!!

Average Fill
I was banded 04/08/08 with a 4 cc band. Got a 1.4cc fill on 05/24/08 and .8 cc's on 06/11/08. With a total of 2.2's now, I am pretty tight. I heard it was common to give .5 cc's per fill with out floroscopy, so they don't overfill you. That must be very frustrating, I probably would have found another fill doctor by now.

Port pain during TOM...
Hi there gals I have so much pain around my port area during my TOM. I actually don't know if its really related to my TOM or not. I was banded on April 8, so I am coming up on my third period since being banded. The first one, was right after surgery so I had alot of pain anyway. The second month I attributed it to excercising too much, but here is the pain again. This time it is a sharp pain, but could be related to me lifting a heavy suitcase last night. So I really don't know? Does anyone else experience port pain during their TOM? Or, is it totally unrelated? :frown:

What's your hardest habit to break?
No drinking while eating is a tough one, I usually wait until I feel I am going to die without a sip of Water then give in to a small ice cube. Now, I really struggle with small bites and chew, chew, chew. I am usually starving everytime I have a meal, so I take a big bite forget to chew, get stuck, experience a whole lot of pain, maybe PB, then swear to myself that I will never do that again. I do the exact same thing everytime. Hopefully, I will learn someday!!

How much was your 1st fill
I was banded on April 8th and got my 1st fill on 05/24 of 1.5cc's in a 4 cc band. I currently have no restriction, so I have already scheduled my 2nd fill for June 21st. I was banded in Mexico, and my Dr. makes his patients wait at least 4 weeks between fills.

How soon did you drive?
I drove myself home the next day -- two hour drive. See how you feel, before you make a decision.

Bruising normal?
I also developed a big, bright, purple bruise on one of my incisions. It didn't hurt any more than the other incisions. It finally went away after a month. I would say it is probably ok, but watch it and see what it does. :wink2:

SV!! I weigh LESS than my DH!!
My DH started dieting when I started the pre-op. Fast forward to today.....he has lost 31 pounds and I have only lost 16, and I am banded!!! Talk about frustrating.
-
trying to get back in the saddle...
Get the fill... you need the restriction. You will start losing weight again!!
-
You know you are a bandster when....
You order 1 entree with 6 extra plates and nothing to drink....hehe.
-
what about gas?????? help!
I am about 7 weeks post op and have the same problem... it is terrible!! I am so afraid that this will be an ongoing issue for the rest of my life, like some of the postings that I have read here. It is so embarrassing, I just want to crawl under a rock sometimes!!! I have only tried Phazyme, but it really doesn't help that much. Maybe one of you veteran bandster can answer if this is the way it is going to be??:wink2:

First test of will... i lost
I am soooo sorry that you are going through this. It is understandable that it would be a tough eating day for you. You can just make a committment to do better tomorrow. Look, we are realistically going to have set-backs in our journey, if we can accept this fact, we can continue to move forward. You will be in my thoughts....

It can be done!
Wow.... you are an inspiration!!!! Keep up the great work and you will be at your goal in no time. This is just what I needed as I have not been too sucessful in my weight loss lately.....

Post Surgery..Name 10 positive things
I was banded on April 8th and haven't gotten a fill yet. I have yet to lose a significant bunch of weight, but have mentally made a committment to make it work with the band. I was able to make the following postive changes because of the band: 1) I quit smoking for my surgery and have now been smoke free for 48 days!! I smoked for 15 years. 2) I gave up carbonated drinks for the band, so haven't had a diet coke or "Monster" energy drink for 48 days. I had become dependent on huge amounts of caffine in my life and feel liberated now. 3) I am tremendously healthier now. I do some type of exercise every day-- gym, hiking, biking. running or walking. 4) I am much more aware of eveything I put in my mouth. 5) I feel better about my whole being  6) Clothes that haven't fit me in years fit me now. 7) My husband is a sports junkie, therefore, we have become close and do a lot more activities together. 8) I am starting to get muscles on my arms, and the ones on my legs are getting bigger. 9) I feel alot more confident in my athletic abilities. My husband drags me snowboardong every winter and I dread it. I am actually looking forward to it next year. 10) Finally, I have yo-yo dieted ever since I can remember. I have renewed faith that when I do lose the weight, I will be able to keep it off forever.
