Awww can understand how that would be hard for you, you never know kids are quite strong willed, maybe if they see you loosing the weight it might inspire them to stick to diet and exercise, so they dont need the band

Is 13 too young for the band? Im glad im getting it sooner rather than later cus i want to enjoy myself whilst im young, but i dont think my parents would have agreed if i was any younger than this there firs question was "surely shes too young" lol

xXx

well I had my paid by insurance...so I had to do the 6 month thing but I got approved in minutes online after that and had my surgery the following friday but only because I had finals up to thursday lol

I think maybe your daughters will see you losing weight & be inspired to do the same. My sister & I both weigh about the same, but she isn't getting banded because of insurance issues. She's told me that she has noticed a difference in her eating habits & I've noticed her losing a little weight.

My parents would have wanted me to get banded when I was like 11 or 12 if I was able to. I actually went in for my first consult a year before I got banded.

Well, I'm glad you're here. Talking to my sisters about eating with the band is starting to really get to me.

well i got an endoscopy done today and the doctor said everything looks great. so now i just have to find a doctor that does the surgery (my gastro doesnt) and see what they say! i'm excitedddd

Hey there, i'm brad, im new here! Just wanted to say hi to everyone. Im currently 17, will be 18 on the 13th of Feb. I currently weigh about 300lbs, and im seriously considering the band as an option. My mom had gastric bypass (i call it the hardcore version because they actually sliced her open) haha. Anyways, what were some of your experiences of the whole banding process? Does it hurt? how much weight could a guy like me (6' 1" 300lbs) be expected to loose? Thanks in advance!

Welcome! I'm four weeks banded & I've been very happy with it. The whole process went pretty fast for me. It was two weeks to surgery once my doctor got the approval letter & it took me about a week to recover enough to go back to work. I think your doctor would be best suited to tell you how much you'd be expected to lose.

Do you exercise? Im 6 -2 320 but i am active so itll be easier for me to peel weight off then if i was 40 lb lighter and wasnt active....

Yes sir I do exercise, not as much as i did when i played football frosh and soph yrs, but i still do.
