Who is Getting Banded this Week?

Hello! So it's official. I'm getting banded on Friday. I was bad and I cheated on my pre-op diet yesterday. Did anyone else experience that moment of weakness?? I'd been doing so good all week!

Actually, I hardly ate all day in anticipation of a dinner party. I only had a Adkin's shake, a green salad, a slice of deli ham and a V-8 all day until dinner. But at dinner I ate a lot and I even ate a few tortilla chips with guacamole and a taste of pie!! :faint:

I'm back on the wagon today. How is everyone else doing on their pre-op?

Hey shoegirl, well I'm scheduled for surgery on 12/26 and start the liquid diet tomorrow and Tues. (no christmas for me this year :-( oh well) Anyway, I've been doing pretty good cos' my doctor scared me to death at my pre-op meeting saying that if I cheated and did not follow his instructions to the letter that he would have no qualms about bailing out of my surgery if he got in there and my liver was too big. He then showed me several pics of livers of patients that had not followed his orders and he didn't know it till he was in there and was not able to continue due to the damage it was causing the liver. So that did it for me. I vowed to follow his words and NOT cheat at all!!! I figure that I've had enough HUGE meals to last me a lifetime and not getting to have that final "last meal" it wouldn't kill me. The next two days will be tough cos' it'll be liquids only, but I'll just have to suck it up and do it w/o fail. Like the surgeon said "It won't kill me to go for a few days w/o food" and he's right! So I wish you luck and hope to hear from you again after your surgery. Be well. KKG

Hi Shoegirl. My surgery is also scheduled for Friday, 12/28/07. I follow a liquid diet begining at 12:00pm, on Thurday. Best wishes to you all.

Getting banded tomorrow 12/27. Been on prot liq diet since the 17th. Lost 7 1/2 lbs and hope to lose another 1 or 2 by hospital weigh in before surgery. Drinking tons of water today (day before) to flush out more stuff, hydrate my body and just doing prot shakes now. I do not want any reason for doc to back out. I can't wait! Good luck everyone getting done this week!

  • 2 weeks later...

Irene:

How did you make out with the surgery? It's been a couple of weeks now. Hope you are feeling well.

Sue

first time posting to site - or any site for that matter

surgery is scheduled for Jan 23rd and I start my liquid diet tomorrow

Jan 9th - my Doc says 2 weeks liquid before surgery and 2 weeks liquid after. Felt dinner last night was the "last supper" but I agree with what someone else said, I've eaten enough "big meals" to last a lifetime.

Stopping at GNC tonight to stock up on Protein shakes

I hope I can make the 4 weeks on liquids - hoping after the first few days it gets easier - especially if the lbs start falling off!

Sandy
