Terrible shocking pains, please tell me it gets better!

Im 4 days post op gastric sleeve & I am soooo thirsty all the time but I cant seem to get a single tiny sip of water down without getting horrible shocking pains on the upper left abdomen area right under my breast or rib cage.
Even one ice chip at a time hurts so bad.
Anyone else experiencing this?

side note, i tried a little mashed potato & it went down fine. Its the liquids that kill me.

In my experience if I drink colder liquids and lay down, I get some pain where you described.

I agree it could be a temperature issue. I certainly found warm/hot drinks more soothing. Many of us experience swelling after surgery making swallowing difficult or painful but if you see no improvement in the next day contact or surgical team.

Cold liquids were absolutely a huge NO NO for me for 2 weeks post surgery. But warm liquids were fine. Try that and see if it helps.
