Hey, all. Surgery went well yesterday. My surgery sight isn't very painful, but the gas is. I'm still recovering in the ICU. They have me here because of getting an RNY and I'm on cpap. The staff has

I believe my date is going to be May 8th. That's the date they submitted to my primary insurance (united healthcare). I don't have bariatric surgery coverage with my primary though so I'm waiting for

I’m just alittle sore from the incisions. Also it’s really hard to consume the 60oz of liquids, Water is kind of hard to go down. I also can’t meet my Protein goal, the consistency doesn’t sit well. I burp a lot as well lol. How is your liquid diet going? I think I’m struggling more mentally than physically.

Oh ok. Which surgery did you have? I had the sleeve. I’m doing good with liquid but I was aloud Greek yogurt sugar free pudding cream soups. By the 3rd day. Did you not get that option?

Had my surgery May 10th, currently 5 days post op & it’s been alittle rough. How is everyone else post op who had a May surgery?

I will say it will get better. Had Bypass surgery on May 3rd and the only real problem I had was not keeping my soft foods down the last couple days. I read something that said drink something hot/warm before your eat time so I tried it today and boy it was a game changer

I ended up staying anothe
Day, sorry my phone is having trouble. Little pain now, Monday was rough lots of nausea, a lot of pain. Today was pretty good, minimal pain mostly gas pain. Ian still on water only. I will go
Home tomorrow. Looking forward to broth.

So good to hear from you Gabbie! I was the same, pain and nausea. It gets better quickly. I just take a preventative tablet for reflux now, a week out. I'm living on broth lol. It's half my daily fluid intake. I also have a protien water, flavoured ice stick and jelly. Getting about 64 ounces with that.

Going home is the best! Take care.

Hi all, well I am now 9 days post op GS.. and it has been awful, i have been to the ER twice now for dehydration. I sill cant get much down without being in severe pain, then shortly after it comes up. They did CT scan and it shows that every thing looks good, no leaks. Now i have what i feel is a awful sinus infection. Blowing out and coughing up thick green mucus. Im feeling so defeated, and like having this surgery was mistake. I hope no one out here is going though anything similar to me,,

Please be encouraged. Although I haven’t had the same problems as you I was having a hard time with keeping my soft foods down (RNY May 3). I started drinking something hot/warm 30 minutes before each meal (i.e. broth, tea) and that has helped tremendously. I’m still only eating a few tips of a spoon but man it taste so good.

so just a suggestion try drinking something hot/warm to see what f it helps

Good luck ?

thanks for the reply. I cant even get water to stay down, a cap full of water will cause my stomach to cramp so bad i get sick. no matter what type of fluid it is. Hopefully it will end soon and i can try get back on track.

Oh so sorry, I pray for you! I was hoping the sip and let it melt in your mouth would work. What about ice chips.?
Synlee have you tried using an eye dropper with 1/2 tsp water at a time
I am feeling a lot better but the gas comes in waves right now but as soon as I start to walk it releases thank goodness. Also I had the sleeve.

I had my surgery Friday as well! Hope you're feeling well.

@Synlee I'm so sorry you're going through this. I hope answers are found soon.

Ok guys I’m stuck. Day 6 post op. I hate sweet stuff never been a sweets person at all. Unfortunately most of all protein things we can eat are sweet. I’m grossed out now. I can’t stand the thought or taste of sweet. I want savory. Yes I have my broth but it’s never enough protein and the strained creamy soups. Still won’t meet my goal. I need ideas. I’m so ready for purred foods so I can get away from all this nasty sweet stuff.

I'm not worrying about protein during the liquid phase, it's impossible to meet so once I start purees it'll be my main focus. I'm so sick of this stage. Six more days...
