I had my surgery on the 9th today I am 2 weeks out today. My surgery day weight was 275 lb (I am 5’ 8”, male, 40) and today it is 262 lb (13 lb down)

still on all liquid diet but I expect the surgeon will advance me to soft diet tom at the 1st post op meeting

Gas pain was real took 10 days to go away

weird enough I can drink a lot - comfortably. I can down a 16 oz water bottle in 5 minutes. Is this normal?

good luck All!

Am I the only crazy person who screamed waking up from Anesthesia due to the gas? I’m almost 3 weeks post op but I was so embarrassed

Same here. During the night after surgery I had a catheter in place because I could not go and the gas pain was horrible. I screamed at the charge nurse in the early dawn “get this catheter out or I will take it out myself” and she obliged ?

Hi there! I had mine on 1/17 also. how r u doing?? I feel great! Tolerating fluids well…I think? No burps or gas pains - which is worrying me a bit. Most seem to struggle with Fluid intake 1 week post op - I’m fine. Worried there’s a leak or something. any thoughts?

Same; finding it very easy to drink fluids - can down a 16 oz water bottle in 5 minutes. My worry is the surgery was not done correctly (I had it done at a center of excellence here in the US)

My surgery date is April 6th

I had my VSG surgery on 01/06/23. I stood 1 night at the hospital. Gas pains were awful the first 3-4 days but then subsided. Almost 3 weeks later, and I feel great (no pain or discomfort!). My only complaint is that I tire easily. I've lost 30 lbs and am on soft foods. I do get hunger pains... like real hunger, not head hunger. I thought we didn't get that for a few months but I've been pushing through. Drinking my fluids and TRYING to get my protein in.

If there was a major leak you would definitely know because it would hurt like all hell, so if you’re feeling good you don’t need to worry. Water is absorbed very quickly when you drink between meals.

Hi guys, is anyone having the gastric sleeve in Jan 2023?

I had mine on January 24, I'm just a few days past my surgery.

I just had surgery on Wednesday January 25th, 2023. Not doing too bad!?

How are things going?

It’s going okay. Just the meds like injections of blood thinners are crazy but everything else is okay. How about you? How are you recovering?

My gastric bypass was on the 23 of Jan. I'm 5 days out. I'm very sore- feels like tugging in my stomach. When I walk I can't stand straight- I'm working on it, but I lean forward, holding on my belly like it is about to fall off!

I am able to drink liquids- protein shake and clear protein, water, tea... thats all- pretty easily. I had major gas pains in the beginning- but they are mostly gone. Thankfully my husband is tracking all my pills and seeing that I take what I need. I'm sleeping in a recliner and haven't attempted to go upstairs-I don't mind.

I'm hoping to feel better soon!

I hate the blood thinners, but I’m doing great so far. I’m already a lot more mobile and it doesn’t hurt to move anymore, so my daily steps are up from 2k/day to over 6k/day. I’m having a bit of a stall weight wise now at 12 lbs down and 10 days post-op but I try not to stress about it and just carrying on with my new routines.

Just a vent. . .

I'm 2 weeks post op today. I had a bad weekend with eating. I think I did ok with water. But I am 1 wk into puree and did eat a couple slices of deli turkey which I won't be doing again for a couple weeks, because it made my belly upset.

So it was my first event since my surgery. My nieces 16th birthday. My sister had soda, turkey or ham sub sandwiches and chips. I drank water and had 2 slices of deli turkey. I did better than I would of pre-surgery. So that was a NSV. But like I said in first paragraph it did make me very full and uncomfortable. That night my sister ordered pizza. I had some cheese and sauce topping and a couple mozzarella sticks. Again felt like I ate too much. But just relaxed for the rest of the night drinking my water.

I now realize how toxic my family is on food. The stress being around them is hard. But I have learned new things which I feel this whole weightloss self-care journey is all about. Got home and right back to my puree and water. 1 more week then soft foods. Which I think I will do pretty good at. I just miss chewing the most.
