how many nights for sleeve

Recommended Posts

Hi there, Did most of you with the sleeve stay one or 2 nights?

I think with covid they want people out faster.

I never had any pain with my sleeve, just had a drop in blood pressure due to the scopolamine patch and they removed it and I was just fine. Only took one dose of pain meds when I got home the first night as a precaution. Never needed anything after that.

Surgery 8/26 home 8/27. Just make sure you drink liquids and walk around. They see you doing both and you should be home soon.

I had surgery early on a Wednesday morning and was home by 11:00am Thursday. I'm told a one night stay is routine, however they won't push anyone to leave - especially if you don't get up and walk, aren't getting enough fluids and can't go to the bathroom (pee). I was able to do all three immediately after surgery, and even then, they offered to keep me another night if I wanted to stay on stronger (IV) meds. The first 5-7 days at home were pretty miserable pain-wise, but literally overnight, I felt better on day 7. I woke up with almost zero pain, a lot of energy, and just overall felt a ton better.

Thank you for sharing this!

Glad you got through to day 7!

I think they are pushing for one night... but have me prepared for possibility of 2.

Yes I am doing well. I have another advise for you. Let your body tell you what it will agree with you. Sometimes I can lay on my left side. Sometimes on my right side but I listen to my body.

I had surgery 7.27.20 and stayed one night. I was walking and sipping Water just fine but wanted pain meds at the hospital. Went home with children's liquid tylenol, which scared me bc i thought i needed narcotics, but realized i was just fine without them. I had no nausea or gas pain others mention. Like others mention tho, the first few days i would get a shooting pain if i smooshed my stomach sitting too far up, getting to a standing position from laying and laying back from sitting. Couldnt sleep on my sides for about a week and a half without that tight feeling and pain and then instantly all that changed one day. Im 40 days out and sleep on my side, no pain at all, tolerating foods and drinks just fine, feeling completely healed, my incisions glue has come off all 6 incisions, i feel my energy rising, and my husband says he notices im already happier bc i have zero back pain and hip pain like i did prior to surgery! It's amazing! U wont regret it.prayers for u!!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
