Disappointed...

Well after being denied and appealing the surgery and waiting 7 weeks for a surgery date which is 3/18, I believe they are canceling my revision due to the virus. Because it’s elective.

I hope I’m wrong. I am in so much pain from the heartburn. I’ve been on a liquid diet for 2 weeks.

I’m so upset.

I'm so sorry. I wish people would take this social distancing seriously and give it a chance to work so we can get this damn virus under control.

It’s okay. I’m just throwing myself a pity party since getting the call this morning lol

The heartburn is horrendous still and I just want this over. My son is supposed to get married in June and wanted this under control ... plus worrying about them cancelling the wedding.

I get it and totally understandable, congratulations on your son's future nuptials! Where in New York are you? I'm on Long Island.

;-) hope you’re keeping well

i knew they shut down all non essential elective surgeries till April. Now may.
I didn’t hear that yet on the news

maybe it’s north well making their own decisions.

I think they are just trying to be safe, which I know is disappointing. I had my surgery on 3/2 and even my surgeon doesn't want me coming in for a post-op appointment, that will be done by video chat. I am doing well but I've been home. I will return to work next week due to being an essential employee.

I made it under the wire by 3 days and they cancelled on 3/15 for 3/18 the first time. I understand the safety aspect.
glad you’re doing well.
mine is just a revision so I’ll be okay.

I hope you used the breathing thing while you were and the hospital and while getting out to get your lung capacity as strong as it was before. I worry so much about just gotten surgery people to get the virus ? Especially because I feel like right after surgery we're so weak and building up vitamins back into our bodies. Stay safe and good luck.

I did use it while i was in the hospital however I forgot to pack it when I came home but I have been walking outside when the weather is good to build up my endurance. I start my soft food diet today and I'm thankful to finally be graduating! I would think that should help me to build more strength as well. I think the best thing we can do to fight this virus is to pray, be well rested, hydrated, and eat nutritiously. Thank you for the concern. You had your surgery a few days before me, how are you doing with your recovery?

  • 5 weeks later...

I had my surgery on 3/9, the same day the hospital had their 1st 2 virus patients. One my 2nd day, they stopped allowing visitors. If I had known what was to happen, I would have postponed. No one should be in a hospital now unless they virus. The surgery also makes you high risk for virus. It's way too scary. I have not been able to have any post op visits, since my Drs office is in hospital. I live very close to Manhattan, and in a hotspot. I'm 6.5 weeks out and haven't seen a dr since.

I had my surgery on 3/2, I too have not seen my doctor in person for a follow up appointment but I did speak to my doctor over the phone with a concern and a video chat with my nutritionist. I live on Long Island so I’m right there with you in a hot spot. How are you doing since the surgery?

My surgeon has be checking in with me by phone. I am grateful that things for the most part have been going well and ive had no majors issues. Im having a LOT of gas pains in the evening, but other that that I'm doing ok. How about you? I am not happy that I haven't been losing any weight.

Where in LI? I have family in Patchogue and surrounding areas.

I’m in Riverhead. I only burp a lot, seems to be when I’m full or just about. I’ve been doing a lot of walking. The weight is not coming off as fast as I’d like since I started soft foods but overall I’ve done pretty well. I just have to be patient.

I have slacked on my exercise since surgery, I was going to pilates 3 days a week, but that is gone for now. I have done some walking, but I need a class setting to push me. Plus the weather has been shitty!

I’m sorry for you too. They canceled me the day before my surgery in March due to the virus, so I know how you feel. I’m still waiting for another date. ??
