When do they do labs?

Just wondering if anyone who’s already gone through the step of signing all the papers for consent for insurance before submitting can tell me if they also need the lab work done prior to this in order to submit? My appointment is on Friday and if they are going to request me to get blood work done I might just hold out and fast that morning so I can run after and get them done.

So that was after they submitted it and you got your approval?

My blood work was done before submitting to insurance. I can't speak for every type of insurance, but BCBS of North Carolina wanted to know that I did not have some underlying condition with my thyroid that would be a factor in weight gain. A TSH blood test measures thyroid levels (free T4) and was part of a routine blood workup that was done.

I may have to do more blood work right before surgery, not sure.

They submitted my paperwork on April 3rd to to insurance. The bloodwork us for the surgeon and not insurance. I am still waiting for the approval.

Susie..

The only lab test that needed to be submitted to the insurance was a TSH. All other lab work was done after insurance approval 2 days before surgery.
